Came here at 11:30 on a Friday with our tour group of 300+ hungry 5th graders and their 100+ chaperones. This was my second trip here so I knew where the food court was and the kids were hungry. However, another large group arrived a few minutes ahead of us and it became chaos in the food court!! They eventually... More

Really enjoyed the afternoon with my Grand Pup and family. He is part Fox Hound and we found out George Washington bred the first American Fox Hound at Mount Vernon. We took turns seeing the indoor things but our four legged friend really enjoyed seeing all the animals on the farm. A beautiful place on the Potomac for getting some... More

First of all, the grounds and buildings are beautiful and a must see. BUT if you go here, you must do the secret agent mission activity. You can find fliers for it in the main lobby area when you first walk in. All you have to do is download the app and then it tells you certain places you have... More

We headed out to Mount Vernon thinking we'd have no problem getting in, but apparently booking house tour tickets ahead of time is what you need to do! We got there at around 3:30 and the earliest house tour we could get was 5:30. We booked the tour and headed in to wander the grounds until our allotted time, and... More

Consider purchasing your tickets online before arrival as you will save a couple of dollars. You can also choose what time you want to enter the house and add on to any additional tours you may want to take. I recommend you doing this as there were lots of school groups and tourist bus groups (I gave up counting the... More

We really enjoyed our visit to Mt Vernon. The grounds were beautiful and the history of the estate was interesting. The tour of the home was disappointing, very few details, and I believe it was in an effort to keep moving people through. We loved the museum however learned a ton of new things about our first president!

Can't say it is the top place to visit but it was more interesting then I thought it would be and the grounds are beautiful. It was crazy busy. The staff were all very nice and helpful.

My daughter and I went here for a portion of our spring break vacation together. The grounds are beautifully maintained and it was wonderful to wander about and take photos of the beautiful gardens. Be warned however that it seems like a very popular spot for class trips. The resturant on the property was wonderful, the food was fantastic and... More

We thoroughly enjoyed a beautiful, peaceful morning at Mount Vernon. When I planned our visit I thought maybe it would only take about 2 hours (with our elementary-aged boys), but we ended up staying for nearly 4 hours. I was a bit disappointed in the "tour." We booked online for a 9:30 tour of the Mansion and grounds. When we... More

Spent a lovely afternoon walking through the grounds and taking a mansion tour. The tour is inexpensive and worth it to see the lovely interior of the mansion. Amazing how much of the décor and furniture are original to the home. Be prepared to walk a lot and bring water as it can get hot on the trek, especially walking... More
