Wonderful Mothers Day celebration Saturday with my daughter at 50 West Vineyards. This is one of her favorite vineyards in Loudoun County - about 1/2 from Dulles Airport. After a wonderful lunch at Stone Tower Winery, we finished the afternoon watching the clouds roll in over the mountains & sipped their Brut Rose by a fire pit table.
We started each visit with a wine tasting presented by personable, patient sommeliers. We laughed and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our patient husbands provided safe transport.
Con - the cheese was a box of Boursin, plunked down on the table; the chocolates an unopened box.

We hosted our rehearsal dinner at 50 West & the team was incredible! They were so flexible, kind, & accommodating. The space is absolutely beautiful & was able to fit 75 of our guests. They set up beautiful tables indoors & outdoors for our guests. Everyone was absolutely amazed by the view. We can’t recommend this place enough! Thank you, Katie!

My group had a very bad experience with 50 West. I hired a bus to do a tour of northern VA wineries for my wife's birthday. 50 West was supposed to be the last of three wineries we visited, but when we showed up we received a less than hospitable reception. The tasting manager stopped the bus immediately and asked if we had a reservation. We did not, so he said he would see what he could do and returned inside. Several minutes went by and he did not return so I went inside to talk to him. He was not making any effort to accommodate us and stated we were not allowed inside because they did not allow groups without a reservation. I informed him that nowhere on their website does it say anything about this. I told him we came all the way out from DC and it was my wife's birthday, could he please make an exception? Still the answer was no. I told him that we didn't need a group tasting and were happy to split into smaller groups. There was only 11 of us in our group, so it wasn't as if there were 30 of us about to take over the tasting room. Also, the winery wasn't even crowded at that time. I was then told we were not allowed inside. He said they were going to announce last call soon even though they their advertised closing time was 6:30 PM. It was 5:40 PM. I again pleaded with him but he said it was their policy. I reminded him that this policy was not made available to the public. He said our bus tour company should have known and told me. I told him they had not. Realizing I was making no progress I asked to speak to the manager. He said he was the manager and that I needed to leave. I can not recall ever being treated this rudely for no reason. I returned to the bus and we returned to DC having only seen two wineries thanks to 50 West. I highly discourage anyone from visiting this winery. Their customer service and hospitality are severely lacking.

Service makes all the difference for me. Warm, welcoming and feels like family. Well and most importantly good wine. The Rose' is phenomenal and the Chardonnay was a very close second. Our wine guide was super organized and new how to man a crowd effectively but kindly. Great views and would be especially fun at night with the cool hanging lights. Not overly crowded so a wonderful hidden gem!

Good wines and friendly nonpushy staff. Thoroughly enjoyed my tasting on a rainy January Sunday afternoon.

We went on warm Friday night. We had bread, cheese and meat which were $30 total, and then two flights which were $20... for a total of $50 we had a evening. It was nice and warm outside so we decided to sit under the stars and enjoy the weather. The wine itself it actually pretty good, we tried all but one, which was the sweetest white they had.
Located in Aldie its not too far from other wineries in the area, and it was not packed as I thought it would be on a Friday. It stays open late until 8pm on Fridays, we live 3miles from a winery and it stays open late also but it gets extremely packed so we decided to drive out 35mins to this locations to try it out. ANd we were glad we did because we were able to enjoy the atmosphere because they didn't have so many people.
We would def come back.

Nice winery and great views! We stopped here for a girls day out and enjoyed a nice wine tasting. The wines were delicious and the tasting room was clean, relaxing, and had a great view. There is a private clubhouse for members that looked really nice as well. This place is worth the stop for a nice glass of wine!

Hadn't been here before. Our oldest daughter wanted us to try it out. Grandkids had a hayride, we drank some surprisingly good white wines and a really good Rose. Very nice venue, with a great view of the mountains. Will definitely go back again.

For me, 50 West has the best VA chardonnay I have ever tried for the price (although admittedly, I haven't had them all). It offers a fruit forward, neutral oak characteristic followed by a buttery finish complimented by new oak. I also enjoyed their sunset red blend, the cuvee, and the fantastic port! So nice to try a port that isn't a heavy, caramel bomb.
The people were warm and friendly. Our server (I apologize I cannot remember her name) was very personable and knowledgeable.
The vineyard grounds are enjoyable and appealing, although they are not the most majestic that you will find in the area. Also, they were not a lot of food options, but I'm here for the wines, not the food and scenery.
I will definitely return as they are one of the few wineries that offer Tesla charging so I'm lucky to have little choice.

$10 tasting. 3 whites 3 reds. Liked one as OK. Mostly sour to tart. Even the Sauv Blanc -lime ?? The Dusk dessert wine was ok. But not something I would buy. Our hostess was great and friendly. She (Bethany) admitted that she was new.
