Mason Neck State Park is a hidden gem in Northern Virginia. We enjoyed the drive to get into the park and down to the water views. The visitor center was very interesting and they change their exhibits every so often. The Red Bud trees were...More

Just outside the city you can find this very quiet peaceful park on the water. We quickly saw a couple bald eagles and other birds easily.

Great for a few hours of hiking as trails wind through and around Mason Neck. There are many scenic overlooks with spectacular water scenery dotted with trees and rolling hills. Not too challanging with absolutely lovely paths that crisscross sandy footpaths, narrow boardwalks, and gravel...More

A great park to visit near the nation’s capital. There are plenty of hiking trails to enjoy and with all the rain that has been falling over the past several weeks, the natural colors were popping (see photos). It’s a shame that many of the...More

Excellent place to spend the afternoon. Walked along a trail. Ended by the lake and then the kids got to play on the play ground.

This is a nice park and is the closest state park to our home. We just bought the annual park pass ("Naturally Yours Passport") and so will probably visit many more times over the coming year to see the seasons change in the park.

Nice and easy, no major hills to climb, well manicured trails, great foliage, and Belmont Bay. Bridge over tidal area with loads of wildlife. Bring the kids and a camera.
