Fraudulent Rodeo
Feb 2020 • Friends
Just attended the embarrassment of the Lone Star Rodeo and left early. One cowboy succeeded in riding one of approximately 5 combined bareback and saddle bronc horses.

One calf was successfully roped. Between the events was a LONG boring clown routine to fill time because there weren’t enough horses, participants or calves.

The worst part was the opening “filler” with a white person in Indian headdress riding in with the announcer indicating the Indians are now “gone”. Nope, still alive and well on reservations getting screwed as usual by the US.
Then to top off that disrespect, here comes Custer and the 7th Cavalry who massacred indigenous people.
Finally, into the arena rides the fake Indian carrying the US flag. Shameful ignorance and no one who could ride a horse or a steer. The Horse Center should not have this group put on a “rodeo”.

Fine venue for BMX dirt bike racing
Jan 2020
This was our first dirt bike racing event. Our 13-year-old great grandson who has been racing for 3 years participated in the BMX event along with many others ranging in age from 2 to 81! We were amazed that the dirt from the central floor area of the 4000-seat Coliseum was used to create a race course with hilly straightaways and 3 steeply banked curves. It was fascinating to watch many levels of competition. This seemed to be a wholesome family experience for the national three-day event! I would not have expected an event like this to be held at a horse center, but it worked out fine!

Enjoyed being a spectator at the VA Dressage Finals & CBLM Championship
Oct 2019
My friend and I enjoyed going to the VA Dressage Finals at the Virginia Horse Center. It is a very nice (and large) facility including the Anderson Coliseum. We were spectators and the admission was free to the facility. Not very many people were there as spectators at this advent so parking wasn't a problem. We enjoyed walking around the facility and watching the horse show. We especially enjoyed the Freesytle and Pas de Duex. I would recommend people check out the facility calendar and come see a horse show. Most horse shows are free except for the rodeo and the fair I think. Also, print a map from their site before going, it shows the barn areas and more.

Lots of Horses and Lots Going On
Jul 2019 • Couples
My wife loves horses. We went about 9 am on a Saturday morning. There were two horse shows going on, but very low key at 9 am. We watched each of the shows and walked through the stables, chatting with owners. It was a great experience for a horse lover. Bigger complex but less pretentious than I imagined.

Wow! Just a beautiful, well-run facility

Spent three days here as part of the Virginia Horse Trials. Absolutely terrific facility, huge, lovely people running everything. The Cross-Country course is truly gorgeous and worth a look. I think the one thing I would do is add more trash cans!

Spent two nights there watching the Lone Star Rodeo. Found the staff there to be very friendly. Make sure to grab something to eat prior to going though.. Their food prices are a bit high for what you get

It was a hit for my 12 year old. She loves horses. We just happen to be visiting during a dressage competition. We could have stayed they all day. We were there on a Saturday- they also have a Farmer's Market. We will definitely checkout the up coming schedules and be back.
