Excellent place to go for a day.
Aug 2021
Been years since i have been here, and boy it has changed. Decent parking etc. We went kayaking for a few hours. Service was excellent. Water was calm and warm. loads and loads of geese about. Even saw a white housemartin by the dam, there were hundreds massing there in the afternoon sun.

Lovely walk
Oct 2021 • Couples
We had a lovely stroll around the reservoir today. The paths were good under foot and there was hardly any rubbish lying around or any dog mess. Only criticism is there are not enough picnic benches scattered around the whole of the 7.5 mile walk. A parking fee of £3 all day is very good. I cannot comment on any of the other facilities as we only went for a walk around the reservoir.

The bike of road circuit
Oct 2021
The children’s bike track very dangerous. Man renting the bikes overwhelmed by volume of people and the amount of accidents happening there. If he did have a first aid kit he had no idea how to use it and only minimal first aid experience. There were 2 nurses present who tried to tell him before they left, disgusted. One boy had a nasty accident and had to go to A&E.There should have been at least 4 staff there to keep an eye on the children on the course and to help measure up people for bikes and helmets. Instead there was one man who didn’t really want to be there.very dangerous. There should be a bike circuit for younger children, not everyone piling into a small circuit all going in different directions and crashing into each other.

A nice visit.
Oct 2021 • Couples
Plenty to do here. Lovely scenery, water activities available (see their website). There are cycle tracks and a nice perimeter walk around the dam. Cafe good….lovely cappuccino. Car parking costs £3 for the whole day, or you can purchase a season ticket for parking, at an annual cost of £35. There is a children’s playground here and it’s a nice day out. We live locally, and visit often. My only criticism is that we used to be able to drive up to the furthest car park, which has the best view of the dam and surrounding area. Unfortunately, that opportunity has been stopped. Other than that, it's a pleasant place to visit.

Amazing day out!
Sep 2021 • Couples
We had a fabulous day at Llys-y-fran Reservoir. We booked 3hrs of self launch. The check in was super easy and staff very friendly. There are great facilities to use - family changing room, lockers, trolleys to carry your equipment and that's all to use for £10! Parking for all day was only £3 as well. Great value for money. The lake is great for paddleboarding and it was a great fun to explore it. We also did 10 mile walk around lake which was very picturesque as well.
We also had lunch at the restaurant and food did not disappoint either. Will definatelly be back and recomend it to friends and family.

Lovely place to spend the day.
Sep 2021
We found out this place had a massive refurb 3 months ago, and was well worth it. There are many activities to do, such as paddle boarding, mountain biking, archery and wall climbing to name but a few (some aren't available just yet) Or you could spend the day just sitting by the lake watching the world go by.
The view of the lake at sunset was breathtaking and the image will stay with me for a long time, sadly I didn't have a camera with me at the time.

disappointing first visit after the closure.
Sep 2021
it was hard to pay to park; notices said pay by phone app or at the machine. the phone app was fiddly, we opted to pay by machine and it was 'looping' to the free stay for 29 minutes and no way out. We went to the desk and the gent there blamed the system 'going back to the old system' We suggested there should be a notice saying the machine was not workingand he agrred to 'tell the manager'. Simpler to get a pen and write a notice there and then, surely!

The park has been closed for a long time and lots of money spent. Apart from a new building for hiring bikes etc there didn't seem to be any improvement and much of it looked weedy and run down. Big notices were out saying that new facilities would be coming soon, but no sign of anything being done towards that.

The cafe/restaurant used to be really nice, serving . for example, trout caught at Llys y Fran. This time it was a real disappointment. I had a cellophone wrapped 'cesear salad' which was about the worst salad I have ever (not) eaten! The 'croutons' were horrible huge soft bread ,coloured as though they had been toasted but flavourless and soggy, the ?cheese? was white strips of tasteless yuk, certainly not permesanand the chicken and dressing tasteless. The lettuce was OK but not really 'crispy'. My husband had a pasty, of which neither of us could work out the contents.

Lovely area to visit
Sep 2021
First visit to Llys y Fran, what a gem it is, lovely area to walk with good paths ( although we didn't walk all the way around the reservoir) ,good children's play area and plenty of picnic benches around the area. The cafe / restaurant has seating outside taking in the wonderful views. Toilets were spotless and good car parking at a very reasonable £3 . Well worth a visit.
