Gotta love the location. We did the tasting and that was a bit pricey. The story of how they make it all was interesting and the staff was nice. I just didn't love any of the ciders. So you may and if you do, you should try this place. Good 1 hour time slot for this place.

Can't say enough positive things here. AMAZING ciders. Best I've ever tried -- anywhere. A great tasting bar experience in a beautiful little room w a perfect fire. The grounds look like they'd make for an awesome day when it isn't frigid. Just go.

This property is amazingly beautiful and a different stop for those visiting wineries. Do not go expecting sweet ciders - though the final one in the regular tasting is more like what you find bottled in the store. It is worth the extra money for the premium tasting as the cider/spruce tea was one of our favorites, and the apple... More

When my son and I arrived, there was a group at the tasting bar and we were totally ignored for 5 minutes or so until I asked if we could taste. Even though there was room at the bar, the pourer indicated she had to completely take care of that group before she started with us. This has never happened... More

My fiancé and I decided to try Castle Hill for the first time, but we were turned away at the door even though we arrived during business hours because we arrived too close to closing time. We, like many Charlottesville residents, work in health care and frequently have to work night shifts and can only patronize daytime businesses in late... More

While on a wine tasting find and taste hunt, we came across this great place on the outskirts of Gordonsville, VA. Their selections should be referred to as apple wine and not cider, it is good. The young hosts were knowledgeable about their product and its creation. The large fireplace burning cedar wood created a great cozy feeling

If you've never tried DRY hard cider, or had this type of tasting, you should definitely give it a whirl for the experience. The grounds are awesome, and hard cider is great. Really cool to taste different types and learn how it's made. The only thing I could dock Castle Hill for is that the staff seemed a bit arrogant... More

My husband and my preconceived idea about hard cider has been shattered by this incredible place. We enjoyed tasting the different varieties of hard cider and learned a lot. We enjoyed it with a cheese plate. Very friendly staff.

Try the new cideries that are popping up across the state. Castle Hill Cidery is experimenting with heirloom varieties of apples. The grounds are beautiful. You can engage in sampling their new blends either by the warmth of the fireplace or while enjoying the view on the patio. A great place for parties, weddings, or other functions.

We're not much into cider, but this one does a very nice job with it! The venue is amazing as well... it's large, beautiful and a great place for an event! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They have a great assortment of ciders, so you might find something you like if you visit. It's definitely worth the stop when... More
