We didn't stay at the Homestead as quite frankly it is more than we wanted to spend - we stayed at a local B & B. Our inn keeper suggested we go to the Homestead Spa for the day pass at $40 per person and...More

The Homestead is a wonderful resort in the Virginia mountains. There are numerous activities to keep guests busy, or guests can simply relax in one of the heated pools or at the spa. I disagree with assessments of the Homestead "nickeling and diming" guests. No...More

Very similar to the Greenbriar, very nice ammenities, and views, we had one of very few rooms with a balcony, well worth the up charge! Just missing the special touch of the Windsor Club at the Greenbriar, but the balcony room was spacious, with walk...More

Just returned from a three-day family trip to The Homestead and could not have been more pleased. It is exactly what it advertises: a very nice, historic hotel in the country with numerous family-friendly activities. You do get the sense you are traveling back in...More

If you're looking for a modern luxury hotel than this place is not for you. As with any older building, floors aren't level and some things are showing some wear. Pros: Cake and tea are served in the main hall everyday (complimentary), Brian La Fountain...More

Yes I think they are but the prices are higher, beautiful place
If you rent one of the owners homes at The Homestead, can you access all the activities/amenities of the hotel? We are thinking of a family trip that will include the grandparents, other adults and two small children. A house would be ideal.

Yes you have access to all the amenities. I have not been to the Greenbrier, so I can't comment on that. We noticed changes when Omni took over but we will return. The owners homes have shuttles that take you around.
