A Great Farmers Market
Jun 2021
This was one of the main points of interest on our Saturday outing to Harrisonburg. We've been here before and knew that we could fill our veggie needs and want for the week. It was a slam dunk - except trying to decide which stand we would make our purchases at.

The market is sheltered and right downtown. There's plenty of parking - but can be hard to find a space if you come later in the morning - because there are plenty of customers strolling the market.

We got several handfuls of great looking Shitake and Cremini mushrooms - at a very reasonable price. That was the easy choice as it was the only stand that had mushrooms. Moving along - I picked up a quart container of pickling cucumbers. Dark green and solid. And a bag of mixed lettuce made it into our bag.

Then came the tough decision - where to get our potatoes. They seemed to be at every stand - and beautiful. We decided on 3 pounds of small red new potatoes. (had them last night - roasted. Perfect)

There were some great looking beets and onions of all varieties. But - we had gotten ours at the Lexington market on Wed.

It doesn't take long to figure out that there are young people everywhere - shoppers and vendors. Both having a fun time. If you're around Harrisonburg on a Saturday - get here early and enjoy.

Great Variety
Oct 2020
We began our Saturday visit to Harrisonburg with a visit to the market. First plus - abundant parking right next to the market. There were a good variety of merchants, we purchased both food and gifts and my brother even bought himself a tie-dyed t-shirt. Every merchant was pleasant and people did their best wearing masks and practicing social distancing.

Unique gifts, outstanding fresh food
Dec 2019
We love going to the Farmers Market and it's open all year long on Saturdays and open on Tuesdays also during the growing season. We particularly like the Staff of Life, a bakery that makes the most outstanding breads, rolls, breadsticks and other baked goods that I've ever tasted. We get all of our breads there. There are also several Mennonite farmers with fresh produce, jams, grapes and nuts and much more. The variety is pretty good too from handmade oak, maple and other wood goods and furniture, kettle corn, wine distributors, fresh pork, beef and other meats and much more. On Saturdays during the warm months there is usually vocal group or small musical group on the grass playing great songs.

Farmers Market in the cold
Nov 2019
During my visit to Harrisonburg this month, I went to the Farmers market on Saturday. It was windy and cold but there were vendors offering goods for visitors. I rated this time as average because there was nothing much to see or to buy. I suspect that the situation will be much better during summer. Good part, if you like bake goods, there are plenty.

Great Saturday Morning outing!
Jul 2019 • Family
We always look forward to visiting on Saturday morning when we are in Harrisonburg! We have tried many of the stalls varied options! The balloon man always gets our grandson’s attention! I always purchase freshly ground coffee to bring home. The lavender products often come home with us. We've bought fresh produce, baking, and art, as well as ready made meals for later enjoyment. Residents are so fortunate to have this variety of local fresh produce, crafts, & baked handiwork ! Good to see so many recycle options now available to locals! Picking up the slack of municipal responsibility is to be commended! Well done, folks!

In this place you can find everything from delicious home made bread to vintage earrings! Of course you go there mainly for the produce, but it is fun to find so much more!

Fun place-great variety!
Oct 2018 • Friends
Had so much fun at the farmers market and purchased some delicious deals! So much to choose from and local grown! Bakery sweets, breads, veggies (regular and unique), jams, jellies, soaps, jewelry & other crafts! Entertainment on sight and a couple vendors were cooking! Come hungry and enjoy. A few seats/tables available in front of the band.
Parking on site! Dogs are welcomed, but it is a bit crowded for them.
