Here for two D&C shows in November. I've been to lots and lots of shows and these was among the most disorganized poorly run arenas I've seen. Somewhat surprising as I have fond memories of this place from the 80s. It started from the get go. We were on line a full hour before showtime and yet still missed the beginning of the show. They had one door open and just a few security lanes for thousands of people. The bathrooms were dirty and crowded (way more crowded than similar arenas in other cities). Seating was somewhat tight. Staff was relatively rude, or at least curt - certainly not friendly. It seemed to be one of these situations where they had our money so why even try to provide something approximating good (or even adequate) service. Other than the shows being good, there is nothing about this arena to make me want to come back. Sadly, I probably will and there's the rub. There's absolutely no incentive for this place to improve their service. None. The jerks..

Our first time here for two shows. The acoustics were good and the music excellent. Seemed like there wasn't a bad seat in the house. The bathrooms need help, though. Overall I am glad I experienced the Mothership :)

As a Hampton resident and tax payer I was embarrassed for the extremely poor service, concessions, filth of the facility, and disrespect of the employees working at the event. It was clear the no one knew what they were supposed to do. We got in line at 5:30pm to enter the show and did not get through to enter until almost 8:00pm. We missed 30 minutes of the show due to the poorly organized staff and processes. Once inside the building, the staff were the most unprofessional and disrespectful towards patrons that I’ve ever seen at any venue. At one point, 3 staff members were blocking folks from entering the show and screaming in the faces of people in front of me that they were not allowed entrance after showing ticket and being scanned at main entrance because they still needed a wristband. There was no sign directing anyone of this and no notification prior to walking up to It, so folks are thinking they are good to go because already been through ticket check and security only to being stopped and forming another line before entering on the floor for a wristband.. The staff began pushing people away from entering. One female grabbed a male by the arm who wasn’t aware of what was going on. It really could have become a volatile situation if the some of the patrons had not stepped in and explained to the staff they were going to cause injury to people and to please stop screaming so everyone could understand what they needed to do. There was little to no concessions. There was room temperature water, warm beer and warm wine for sale. Most was set up on card tables with the beverages not even taken out of the packaging. The trash cans were overflowing everywhere, including outside. Folks were trying to collect and set it next to trash bins. However, patrons had to walk through it to get to front door entrance and I never saw any employee emptying or trying to clean anything. The bathrooms were horrendous. I highly doubt they cleaned anything from the night before. The floor was 1” thick of sticky muck throughout. Despite, the band played awesome and prevailed. I am sorry that our city showed such disrespect and unwelcomeness to a band that brought 2 days of booked hotel stay, restaurant and entertainment revenue. The out of town folks were disappointed and said they would never come back. I did not admit that I lived in Hampton. Too embarrassed.

We were here for the Dead and Company show on Nov 9. We got there early and still had to wait for 1.5 hours to get into the concert. I’ve been to many shows, including Super Bowls and other than Met Life in New Jersey, this was the longest, most ridiculous wait I’ve ever encountered. They had literally one door open and everyone had to merge. Not sure if people didn’t show up for work and they were short staffed but I’m thankful to have seen a show here and will never come back due to the wait. Kind of a shame because the venue is so cool. Please get your act together, Hampton, VA. It looks like the city town use the business.

I have been to many concerts and family events here. And both my daughters have graduated High School there. Parking is difficult and scarce if you arrive on time or late. It's quite a distance to get to front door. Great security measures. Nice and clean venue most of the time. Lots and lots of stairs to walk in like most auditoriums. Overall beautiful architectural designs.
