We enjoy many VA wineries, and James River is in the above average group. The white and red wines are tasty. The ambiance is relaxing and congenial. The service is excellent. Tables inside or outside available for groups of 4-6.

The wine was great, the price was awesome for the amount of wines you can taste. We ended up buying a few bottles.

We have always had a good experience here. We usually go on Friday's to wind down or the special events with music and food trucks(that's when the dog goes too!) Friendly staff and comfortable surroundings. Hint: Try the Chardonel. I rarely drank white wine before...More

We have done tastings at James River Cellars several times, and they are always fun. They do pairings of wine with doughnuts, Halloween candy, junk foods, etc. -- not your typical winery stuff. Unfortunately the setting is not ideal. It's on an industrial stretch of...More
