No place more fun than the Rex on Friday nights!

We visited Galax again this year and headed straight for the Rex-- a mid size old movie theater with the first few rows of seats removed so folks can dance to the live music. The band was great-- Zephyr Lightening--string-savvy mom, dad, son and friend of the family. Mostly, our pleasure came from watching the folks dance. This night there... More

I go to see local Old time and Bluegrass bands. Most of the shows are traditional music and I enjoy this knd of music.

I greatly enjoyed the bluegrass show we attended here and had a great time. The Rex is an old movie theater that is being repurposed as a show venue, mostly for bluegrass shows.

The Rex is an old small town theater that has been saved and continues to serve as a performance center. The theater brings local talent to a live audience at affordable prices. Movies and plays may be on the bill. Friday night live performances along with the local radio station. The emphasis on bluegrass. Worth a visit.

OKay, so the Rex has seen it's glory days, but it's still a wonderful place to see a show, movie, or listen to music. Ya know, places don't just "stay" new and wonderful. In fact, the Rex is curently undergoing an upgrade of its seats. If you've been and don't like the seats, how about donating to help make your... More

Went to see the Godfather for free. The movie was great, they have popcorn, candy and drinks that you pay for. You can leave a donation to help with upkeep of the theater. It was a really fun night with family.

The Rex theater used to be a real movie palace. Looking at it today you can just remember the old Cowboy Movies on Saturday. The only thing that makes it a sad place is that Galax , I suppose, does not have the money to give the old Rex the face lift it really needs. Seats, lights, musty smells, all detract... More

We were fortunate that the day we toured downtown Galax it was a downpour. I say that because it sent us into the Visitor's Center and we learned of a local tribute being given in the Rex Theater that day to a local music supporter who had just passed. There were local musicians and dancers who filled the theater and... More

We've been to the Rex several times. The performances on last Friday and Saturday were a little pricy at $20.00 per person, but they both had three performances and included Nashville professional acts.

This was a wonderful show with three seperate acts. Small but comfortable atmosphere gave everyone a close view of stage and performers. Excellent music from very talented musicians.
