The gents playing this afternoon were the original players who started the music centre. They were entertaining and very knowledgeable about the local style of music. The museum is fantastic with lots of things to do for children and recycled teenagers! Most excellent visit.

Some local bluegrass musicians were playing the last time we were here - just hanging out and having a great time like we weren't even there. Exhibits are fun and informative, gift shop is great and employees are all smiles and helpful.

Vendors normally on site for refreshments. Music tends toward Bluegrass an area rich in bluegrass culture. The museum is open most days during the season with frequent live sessions. Displays... The museum alone is well worth the stop - and plan some time here because there's a lot in the museum. But there are jam sessions here ?every day? in the afternoon. Local music yes, but also music that inspired a broad expansion of American music so this place helps you learn about the American musical roots.

Just outside Galax on the Parkway is a museum with quick access to the roots of blue grass and daily afternoon performances. Our performances included history to provide a better insight to this American music. Nice loop hiking trail from the museum gives a quick introduction to the flora of the area.
