About
The farmhouse was built in 1845 and is furnished in a mid-19th century style to reflect the period when it was a 73 acre farm. There is also an original timber barn on the property. Both structures are in Cherry Hill park in the heart of the City of Falls Church.

This is a lovely, historic home that is mostly likely overlooked by visitors to the DC area....especially interesting for people interested in the Civil War period.

It is a very nice house to see how rich farm people lived in virgina before national war between north and sohght. Has a lot of old furniture, kitchen stuff. also some toys for that years. You can figure out how these persons lived in that house.

and skip the house.... or...if you have 15 minutes to spend, check it out. Not what this Southerner expected. The best was a gorgeous server/buffet in the "might have been dining room", probably master bedroom, that is a " period piece"....

What a great house! So many house museums in this area show how the elite lived, but this house is unique in that it housed a "regular" family of the time who didn't have servants and who ran their farm themselves. Rachel was an excellent, professional, and knowledgeable guide who was able to tailor the tour to my interests and answer my questions. I recommend a visit!

If you've seen other historic houses in the Mid-Atlantic such as Mt. Vernon, the Biltmore, Monticello or the houses in Charleston, you won't be too impressed with the Cherry Hill Farmhouse. It's a rather unremarkable two-story three-bedroom house dating back to the mid 19th Century. The most interesting aspect of it is that while many historic houses such as the ones listed above were built by the wealthy and famous, this is the rare historic house that shows how a normal American family of the time (albeit, an upper-middle class family) lived.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and the house doesn't take much time to see - the living room, dining room, kitchen and two of the three bedrooms are restored and open to the public. There is also a barn nextdoor to the house that was built contemporaneously with the house that has some period farm implements and exhibits on what Falls Church was like in the 19th Century. The farm was also briefly occupied by the Union Army during the Civil War, and on "Civil War Day," uniformed reenactors set up camp on Cherry Hill Park, the small park that surrounds the farmhouse.

This was a very nice old building in the middle of the hustle and bustle, but not really much to see.

This place offers a lot of different experiences, ie... civil war reenactments, afternoon teas in costume, ghost stories as well as hosting private affairs such as weddings and more.

The Cherry Hill Farmhouse is situated on the Cherry Hill next to the City of Falls Church Town Hall. The house and the barn were registered as National Historic Places. According to the history, the house belong to a prominent family and prominent person who petitioned the established Falls Church as a city. Stop by to see a piece of Falls Church history when you are in the area.

I've been waiting for the day I would walk by and see the farmhouse is open.

Today they had docents available for tours. The tour was broken up into three pieces, with one docent taking each piece, so they could accommodate visitors who randomly stopped in.

The 2-story house is beautiful, well maintained and decorated with period furniture. The stories were fascinating.

It was a nice slice of pre-Civil War and Civil War history.

It's all free!

This is a great historic building. It is also adjacent to a large park with things for children to do. Often have concerts here. One of the really nice things about Falls Church. Recommend a visit.
