This is a great park. There are so many things to do, a great jogging/biking path, places to picnic, mini-golf, regular golf, fishing holes, etc. The park is well-maintained and kept very clean. I would definitely recommend visiting this park

There is a golf course and a covered driving range. Grass areas for picnics, playground space, a miniature train, a lake with boats and paddle boats, a miniature golf place, and in the summer a concession area. What's not to like? This time of year...More

Awesome! Went during the week - sunny, crisp day. More ducks than people there that day. Quiet, tranquil; clock-calm lake surface reflected the fall colors like a mirror.

A couple of us came here to fulfill a Geocaching challenge this month. This has been a great place for hikes and walks, amongst other things (like Frisbee golf). Great trails and paths all around the lake to boot!

We didn't expect to find such a wonderful park outside of Washington, D.C. We don't live there and didn't realize so many small parks exist. Something about this place really resonated with me. Maybe it was the setting of the lake surrounded by the woods,...More

Really enjoyed running this trail. Wish I'd realized sooner this hidden gem was so close to me. Enjoyed the fitness stations and beautiful lake and scenery along the way.

Very easy to rent boats within the park. Boats operate on a battery.

Yes, you can fish from the pier or boat (rented or your own) at Burke Lake. There's a 24-hour state launch ramp exclusively for anglers near the dam. The Park Authority maintains a ramp and accessible courtesy pier that's... More

Walking/Hiking Suggestions for Fairfax Area (4 Replies)
I may be in Fairfax this month and hope to have 4+ hours for a walk or hike. I may have to return to pick up a friend near Lee Hwy & Jermantown Rd so can't go too far or where I might get stuck in very heavy traffic, I'll avoid traveling during rush hours. I need some advice, which of these spots (or others) would you recommend? I have been to Great Falls Park and am totally happy to return to enjoy nice walk and beautiful views. I also noticed Burke Lake Park and Fountainhead Park, which...More

The Burke Lake Park trail is pretty nice. I think non-fairfax residents have to pay to park at the park but I'm not sure of the price. It's been a while since I've been to Fountainhead but that was nice as well. You could also walk/drive to the little town of Occaquan which is charming. Or you could drive/walk to the Workhouse Arts Center which is an old prison that now hosts a number of art galleries. Not far from where you're picking up your friend is the town of Vienna and the...More
