We were on our way to D.C. when we saw signs for the museum. We thought that would be a neat spot to stop on our way back home from our week in the city. It sure did stick in our minds and we stopped. SO glad we did. It was free and had free parking. They had thousands of... More

I am not really a gun person but my son is so I decided to stop when we were in the area. What a great museum! Located on the ground level of the NRA headquarters, the museum is small but very well laid out. The exhibits are well done including guns from around the world, throughout history and a Hollywood... You can spend a lot more than one day viewing the exhibits. I am no longer a member because of their politics but the amount of detail paid to each of the exhibits teaches you aboutories the weapons' characteristics as well as their histories

Being a NRA Life Member this was a must see for me. Just an amazing collection of firearms. Super knowledgeable old dudes walking around giving friendly insight into the weapons. Fantastic gift shop with a superb book selection. There is even a range in the basement.

If you are interest in guns and gun history this is fantastic place to visit. The amount of weapons and interesting stories behind some of them are a wonderful (and free) learning experience. Plan on spend a couple hours to really see everything.

Much bigger than we expected and more fun/informative than I would have thought. So much history here. Favorite galleries were the steampunk gallery and the Hollywood gallery, where they have the actual firearms used in 120 different Hollywood films. Great place!

Visited the museum with a couple of friends who wanted to visit it. I lived in Fairfax County for a very long time, but never had a prior interest to visit. But I'm glad I did. It was much more than i was expecting. The gun collection is amazing and I like how they are the layout with a nod... More

Title aside, this museum isn't too painful even if you're not terribly interested in firearms. I've visited twice, and they have a incredible collection of historic and novelty firearms and some interesting exhibits of the evolution of firearms. Keep an eye out for the "vampire slayer" gun, it's my favorite part! The museum takes around 45 minutes, and parking at... More
