Fantastic collection of firearms from decades of US history. Plenty of different exhibits spaced out to help with crowd control and it’s free.

Ok, I mainly went to this one because my husband wanted to. As it turned out, I’m really glad we went. The museum has tons of guns ( as expected). It is also well curated and has many photos related to historical events. Who knew...More

This is a great little museum! Some of the guns here are pure works of art - beautifully crafted! There is a lot of history and several fun exhibits as well. I have taken many friends who respect and own guns and they all loved...More

The Smithsonian Museum of American History gives a fine display of firearms covering the history of the country without the propaganda of the NRA. Yes NRA has a large display if you are looking for numbers, but the Smithsonian does a better job of tell...More

I have been to the NRA National Firearms Museum many times and learned something new each time. There are many types of displays that give the history of many firearms. The last time I went into the section that highlighted firearms used in Western and...More

This small-ish museum is easily handled in 2-3 hours tops. As someone who has only a basic knowledge of guns and/or gun history, I found the NRA Museum fascinating. I could have stayed all day. If you have an eye for detail, you'll really appreciate...More

It is a good 1-2 hr visit. Easy to get in and out. No cost to visit. If you have kids with you, there are no specific activities for them, which you may have expected. History is nicely woven in to the exhibits.

This is an amazing collection of many of the firearms that shaped human history over the past 500 years. If you are interested in small arms - hunting shotguns and rifles and military musketry through modern rifles and machine guns, this is a must-see collection....More

I would recommend calling the headquarters for best directions as it is outside of DC in Fairfax, VA and I am not sure there is a close Metro station: (703) 267-1600. They should be able to assist you best.
