we just happened upon this place and are glad we did... beautiful grounds, nice walking trails, a small maritime museum, a new events pavilion (very nice spot for wedding or event), an outdoor stage, and 3 historic boats all overlooking the Chesapeake bay. grounds have plenty of flowers and some sculptures. there are ample open grassy areas and also plenty of shade trees. near the well shaded outdoor stage is a lovely wood gazebo with chairs and tables. other picnic tables scattered about the property. a copse of forest has trails with plenty of benches, and multiple signs to help identify trees and plants. we thoroughly enjoyed our road break.
at the wharf (adjacent to the stage/gazebo) are refurbished working boats from the bays history as well as a replica of the small craft capt. john smith used to explore the Chesapeake in the early years of Virginia

A wonderful walking path through the wooded area next to the water. Old waterway boats at the dock. During warm weather there are concerts. Just a great place for a family outing. Also there is a boat building week during the summer. Sign up and build a 12 or 14 foot wooden skiff ... yes there are very knowledgeable folks to assist you in building the boat! My husband and I did it and have a ball!! The boat actually floats!

Adjacent to the maritime museum. Very well laid out and maintained. Picnic tables on the water, beautiful natural trees and plantings indigenous to the area. Easy access and ties well with the museum. Bring your lunch from the Cafe By The Bay and enjoy.

We were just driving around the coastal area and found this museum by chance. It's super nice inside with a ton of replica boats and displays. They have concerts throughout the summer too. Very family friendly spot.
But more than that there are neat things to see all around the museum outdoors. Dogs are permitted to walk on a leash anywhere around the grounds. There's also a cool LOVE sign, great for taking pics.

I went here today with my family and four small children. They had a beautiful view children's garden and a huge pier you can walk out on.

The park is co-located with the Deltaville Maritime Museum. The park is divided into various gardens. The children's garden is full of local plants - with tags - so Mom and Dad can answer the "what is this" question. My favorite area is the statue garden - which is well shaded with lovely bronze sculptures and benches along a pine path.

Even into late September the gardens were ablaze with blooms. The Children's garden is special. There is also a pier walk where you can enjoy views of the water and view a restored boat and other waterman items of interest.

Great flowers, food, music and a wonderful museum featuring art and history of the area. It's a beautiful facility...farmers markets 3rd Saturday of the month with music and food later in the day. They also restore old buyboats and you can go on board and occasionally tour on them.
