There are better wineries

Not worth the trip. The scenery is beautiful the wine was terrible. The whites were less awful than the reds. I’ve been drinking wines for 50 years and this experience was a bad one.

Can't Say

Reviews looked interesting so stopped by today. Last winery of our day, but well before the 5:00 closing. Unfortunately we were informed that they stop offering tasting flights 20 mins before closing. As we left I checked my watch.. 4:38. So yes, we were close; but to my thinking it was just a rush to close up for the day. And if that's your plan... check you watch before giving a time or call it clean at 4:30 or something. We hustled to another winery just around the corner who were more than happy to see us, so still had an enjoyable end to our day!

Great for socially distant socializing

Had a family meet up here with young kids (ages 2yo - 6yo). Fun for parents (wine) and kids (field to run, animals to see). The food on the menu was limited but still fine for adults. Outside food is allowed so plan to bring for kids. Lots of outdoor seating.

Best winery experience in the NoVA area, hands-down.

Aspen Dale is one of those small places that is so delightful you almost don't want to tell the world about it - because you want to keep the secret to yourself and always have a seat in front of the cozy fireplace.
The wine is fantastic, and the tasting comes with a small plate of food pairings with each wine on the tasting menu. The pairings are as surprising as they are amazing.
The wine is superior to any wine produced within a 15 mile radius, and the winery itself appeals to the crowd that likes a quality wine in a beautiful, peaceful setting.

Fun experience

Gorgeous property, restored barn, and fun food pairing with wine. Fun server with good stories about the property and wine. A couple wines were good. Loved the cider! Very pricey for bottles, should be lower for the quality. It sells farm goods too. With visiting once at least.

A Delightful Afternoon Tasting
Aug 2019
Aspen Dale was the second winery we stopped at on our return to Washington DC. The moment we walked in we were enchanted with the decor and the warm and welcoming ambiance of the place. The server was attentive and there were excellent food pairings with the wines we tasted. We decided to buy a couple of bottles of our favorite wine and a glass or two to enjoy on the premises which was accompanied by some of the excellent cheese and sausages and a baguette that had been paired with the wine. While we were sitting enjoying our meal, a local troubadour played good music on his guitar making this the highlight of our wine tasting trip. A place for a return visit..

Just far enough away from northern VA suburbs to relax & enjoy

Our group of 3 packed a picnic since Aspen doesn't can't accomodate food options without a minimum of pre-week advance notice. We did a wine sampling, including their new cider and sangria = not bad at all. We unanimously agreed on their Chardonay and took a bottle outside to one of their numerous picnic tables and tables. A little pond complete with carp and bull frogs is tastefully landscaped and a pleasant view of their extensive farm beyond is appealing. We loved that they allow dogs both inside and out, so we brought our beagle along and strolled around the property on a perfect summer Sunday. Aspen offers a rustic ambiance inside, a private room upstairs and plenty of green fields to roam should you care to. A very nice little winery and super staff!

We visited the Barns for an indoor picnic with a group of friends. Spent several hours there and had a really good time. Both the wines and live music were good.

Traveler Finds More than a Quick Stop

I’d been on the road for nearly an hour and had finally escaped the NoVa drivers when the rolling hills and changing leaves drew me in. Never venturing this far out I decided to celebrate at the Aspen Dale Winery. It was an incredible experience.

The adjacent gravel parking lot is somewhat limited (12 or so), but there’s plenty of extra parking around the corner. The venue is a rustic, yet charming barn which opens up on its interior to a warm atmosphere with excellent service, delicious wines, and uniquely flavorful foods! The property’s farm may be the source of its wonderful cuisine, but I tasted fresh meats and cheeses which have me planning a return trip.

The tasting was decently priced, especially for the distance I’d travel and I consider it an easy location to return to. The wines were various, but wonderful; each wine had a paired snack that was unique to the Aspen Dale.

There are two floors, lower and upper. Though I didn’t visit upstairs I’m told it offers lovely views throughout the year. The downstairs featured two long bars for tastings, seating for 2-3 dozen, and an age for performers. I visited on a Sunday and the music was excellent.

Whether your within walking distance, or looking to escape the DC ‘burbs the Aspen Dale is a wonderful gem amongst the true beauty of natural VIrginia... oh did I mention the goats and mini horses out back? LIL’ SEBASTIEN!!!!

I’m not sure if they host events, but I’d imagine so. The property is too beautiful not to!

Great place for families, couples, friends, or your regular lone wanderer.

Amazing Winery!!

We loved it here! Came during an overnight anniversary trip with my husband. I've been to a good deal of wineries and never had a food pairing while tasting the wine. That was really cool. The wine was great all around- the rose especially! The winery is cozy and quaint and there was live music when we went. The grounds are beautiful and they even have some friendly goats and mini horses on the property. Highly recommend this spot!
