I was in Danville on June 22nd and had booked a walking tour with Joyce Wilburn of the Danville Historic Society. I had booked it a few weeks early and it was an easy process via phone and e-mail. It turned out I was the only person on the 90 minute tour but Ms. Wilburn graciously proceeded. We walked along... More

We enjoyed the incredible views of many historic homes along "Millionaire Row" on Main Street. Our guide did a great job! She was interesting, friendly, intelligent - overall fantastic! We also had the extra pleasure of taking an internal "first floor" tour of one of the beautiful and classic historic homes that the owners had lovingly restored. The Danville HIstorical... More

This is a wonderful tour of beautiful homes on historical Millionaires Row. The history and architecture of these homes is extremely interesting. Our guide was outstanding with her knowledge as she shared so much information about the period in Danville when these homes and churches were built, This was a most enjoyable tour.

My entire extended family has taken this tour several times. The Historical Society has put together and maintained an informative, relaxing tour of Danville's millionaires row.The Homes on Millionaires row are a site to behold. I would definitly bring my camera. The tour is a short to moderate walk on the Main St. sidewalk. This tour is a wonderful way... More

I am an English professor at DCC and scheduled this tour with the help of the Danville Historical Society to connect the community to the classroom. My students were afforded the opportunity to learn information about their neighborhood or a neighborhood close to theirs, that was previously unknown. We were also able to make connections from our discussions in class... More

Joyce Wilburn leads a great tour of Danville's first professional African-American neighborhood, created around the 1880s and which continued to be associated with the black professional class until the fall of Jim Crow. This was a knowledgeable tour, based on the stories of people who grew up in the neighborhood. The tour touched on the importance of this neighborhood to... More

Coming for a business trip from Germany and having a couple of spare days I decided to visit Danville as first stop of my journey. I phoned Joyce and she arranged a tour specifically for myself and gave me a great insight into Danville's history and great explanations on the beautiful mansions on Main Street. Joyce, thank you very much... More
