Great park for families - many programs, playgrounds, trails, water activities. In season there is also an outdoor cafe by the swimming beach.

My family had a wonderful time at this park for the weekend. There were 14 of us total, with young kids, elementary age, tweens, and teens. They all had a great time. We resented the group camp site, which i really enjoyed. I don't think...More

This is a very relaxing campground with a mix of tents, cabins and RV spaces. We stayed with our travel trailer but wouldn't recommend a coach because the spaces are pretty tight. Our site was level and had a nice tree canopy for shade. The...More

Bear Creek Lake is a great state park. The park itself is pretty small but has all you would need for a weekend camping trip. The tent camping only loop does not have a ton of spots, I think 11 or 12 and only 2...More

Nice place to camp. There are tent sites right next to the water for an awesome view. They are kind of close together but they are still nice. Bathrooms are nice and kept clean. There are a lot of places to fish which is really...More

We loved our weekend at Bear Creek Lake! The cabin we stayed in was roomy, clean, and comfortable. There was no cell service in most of the park. However, it was OK because there are a few wifi hotspots. I was able to get texts...More

Are dogs allowed on any of the rental boats? If so, are there weight restrictions?
April 22, 2017|
Answer
Response from flyingsails |
Yes, they are in fact allowed. We took out 3 dogs from 11-35lbs along with 3 people on a 14' rowboat. The rangers only wanted us to comply with the weight restriction for the entire boat.

How far is parking from the actual waterfront tent sites- coming with a toddler making sure it is possible :)
March 10, 2016|
Answer
Response from VaStateParks | Property representative |
Each campsite has space for at least one vehicle, usually two. So you would be able to park right at your site.
