Chiles is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon with the kids and is a local go-to if you’re a fresh fruit enthusiast. Depending on what your preference is, it’s worth researching what types of fruits are in season throughout different times of the year. Needless to say, they have a lot more than just peaches. We went during blackberry season, which was awesome and we couldn’t ask for a fresher supply. Recommend sampling their ice cream and peach donuts too. Wear good walking shoes and bring sun screen since the orchard rows are a decent distance from the parking and gift shop area. Combine this place with a nearby vineyard like Kings Family, Pollack or Veritas and you have yourself a delightful central VA day.

I thought it was ok, nothing really special as I have experienced in other states or places in Virginia. Customer service was very disappointing, never acknowledged or spoken to when entering or looking around the store. The ice cream shop the girls seem a little friendlier. The peach Ice cream was ok, I expected it to be better with actual pieces of peaches and spices, not just soft serve peach flavoring.

Nice Orchard. Nice people. Unfortunately, the activity we came for for my grandchild, was not offered today even though the website and Facebook had it listed. Several families showed up. The staff was apologetic and offered my granddaughter a bag to pick free fruit. Just wish the venue had updated their website/Facebook as we have over an hour drive.
Hello stephaniesG5994GS, sorry for the confusion. We hope that you and your granddaughter enjoyed your time at the orchard even though she didn’t get a chance to participate in the event. We will keep a better eye on this in the future.

This was our 1st visit to the Peach Orchard in Crozet, though we have been to their Carters Mountain Orchard in Charlottesville many times over the past 40-50 years. They have a nice little barn area with picked fruit, treats and souvenirs and a delightful little annex with ice cream, fudge and light food and wine available. The location is wonderful with the mountains in the front and peach orchards in the back. There were open grounds with tables, a huge fire pit and a covered pavilion with pumpkins on every table including lights hanging from the ceiling that must look great at night. They also had those fantastic Apple Cider Doughnuts that we got at Carters Mountain.

Beautiful view, nice drive to the place. We also went a few times last year for the music and that was very lovely. The doughnuts and apple cider are delicious. Beware of prices, if that is a concern for you. It is a tourist attraction so prices are a bit inflated, but hey, support local businesses when you can. Also beware of where you walk on the property, they are particular about staying out of the orchard if you aren’t picking fruit and other areas (this limits you to a rather small space if you are not picking fruit).

Note to staff: I certainly understand the need for an employee parking lot around the back side of the building, but if you do not want people walking close to the trees there please out signage on BOTH sides of the building. I specifically looked to make sure we were not going into a restricted area on the side opposite of the entrance, and only saw a sign restricting the use of tobacco. However my 70 year old mother was very embarrassed when an employee reprimanded us in a rude tone for entering the employees’ parking area. Again, I understand the need for employee parking, but please properly sign the area, or understand that it was a mistake and don’t talk to people as though they are hooligans causing trouble. No one was near the employees’ cars. My mother just wanted to look at the flowers near the peach trees. Sorry if our presence upset anyone, it was not done intentionally. But I hope no one else’s elderly mother gets scolded for taking a stroll.

We drove miles out of our way to visit Chile Peach Orchard to get fresh fruit and produce. We got out of our car and were immediately met by the manager who told us, “No Dogs!” I said “we understand not in the farm stand or food areas, but could I wait in the parking lot or picnic area with our 11 pound dog while my wife looked at the produce. Again, the manager said “No dogs any where on the premises and that includes the parking lot.” We got in my truck and drove away. I guess they would rather lose business than have a person sit at a picnic table outside with there dog on a leash. There are other orchards and farm stands nearby that welcome our business and our dog.

We are sorry you drove miles out of your way to be turned around because of your pet. We are no longer allowed to allow any pets (trained service dogs allowed) on our properties because of a food safety certification we must maintained called GAP. GAP stands for Good Agriculture Practices. We have to be certified in GAP to be able to sell our fruit wholesale. We love pets and would love for them to be allowed on our properties, but our hands are tied on this one. Sorry if the manager didn't explain the reason for not allowing your dog on our property. We hope you find an orchard to visit that will allow you to bring your dog. From our website: No dogs or other pets are permitted due to our food safety certifications. Service dogs who have been trained to perform a task directly related to a person’s disability are welcome. Emotional support, therapy, comfort, and companion animals do not qualify as service animals (per ADA) and are not permitted.

My teen daughter and I had fun picking late morning/early afternoon. We picked peaches, blueberries and flowers. The peaches and blueberries are sweet and yummy! It is true that the prices are higher than your local supermarket; however, you are paying for the fun experience, as well. The pick your own sunflowers and zinnias were a nice surprise. It was worth the drive from the outskirts of Richmond. We plan to be back next summer!

I was concerned that only some staff wore masks inside their gift shop and none of the ice cream servers wore masks. Customers inside their store were not asked to wear masks and there were no markings in the checkout line to ensure social distancing.I asked one of the customers( who wasn’t wearing a mask) to keep her 6 feet distance and she was offended. There was no enforcement .
The staff were quite standoffish and rude.

Chiles Peach Orchard is a great place for perfect peaches, or depending on the season, apples, strawberries, blueberries, pumpkins, and flowers! The farm shop has various quantities of fruit you can buy, or you may choose to pick your own. They also have peach ice cream, slushies, pie, jam, and other products. Check their website for the growing seasons.

I got to Chiles through Crozet, and I found that route to be the easiest to and from I-64. There's also a great coffee shop right in Crozet, Mudhouse Coffee, which has, along with great coffee, wonderful sandwiches, and the BEST coffee cake...with a crumb topping. I bring a few pieces home to freeze!

Another great place in Crozet is the Crozet Artisan Depot. They have beautiful art from local artisans. There are also vineyards and breweries to visit in the area. All in all, Crozet is a great little town. Note that the amount of time I spent was based on three stops. The orchard alone would only be about an hour (more if you pick your own fruit), incl. driving from the highway.

This is a great place to go to get fresh fruit, produce and to enjoy looking through their shop. Their hot peach salsa is fantastic as are their strawberries and peaches. During Covid, they allowed curbside service and we visited several times and felt very safe. In the spring you can pick your own strawberries. Pre COVID there were fun things for kids to do.

We had a poor experience at Chiles last week. The only peaches they would let us pick were toward the back of the orchard on a very hot day. And after walking a long distance in the heat, when we got to the picking orchard, the vast majority of peaches were on the ground rotting. And the 10 peaches we could find to pick (after passing more than 20-30 bare trees) were also over-ripe and rotting. I don't know what has happened to this place. It's been our go-to for peaches for the last 10 years. And when I told one of the workers about the situation, she said it was my choice to pick instead of buying a basket in the shop. Like, putting it on me that my choice was the problem.

Visited with the family (teen kids). We all had a great time picking peaches and blueberries. They were focused on staying safe and socially distant while also allowing some freedom to roam and pick. Peaches are amazing and super yummy. Same on the blueberries. We all enjoyed it and are excited to eat, cook with, and freeze our fruit!

Recommendation is to get there earlier in the day as later in the day they can be "picked out" for the day.

It’s a fun experience. We were there on a warm, sunny day. We picked peaches and apples (Gala). They all were delicious. A tip: pick some peaches that are nearly ripe but firm. By the time we got home (a couple hours away), some were bruised with rotting spots. It’s pricy, but you pay for the experience and a peach or two in the orchard, I guess.

Chile’s is a wonderful go-to place for seasonal treats. There’s wonderful fruit in the fall, pumpkins at Halloween, fudge all the time, vegetables in the summer, etc. It feels like you’ve gone back a few years in time to a wonderful “mom and pop” experience. They also have family events and wine tasting. My favorite from there are their apples and their peach salsa.
