The pier was nice and the views of the Potomac and the town were great, but the pier is in need of some repair. The pier looks old and some planks have broken loose. Part of the lower pier was closed off because the planks were missing or broken. A pretty good fishing platform is located at the end of the... More

This is small little "beach" community on the Potomac River. If you are accustomed to a larger beach venue this will disappoint. However, it was a pleasant stop for the afternoon to cool off. We bought rafts, floated and had a snack on the shore. (The shore is pebble, not sand.) It appears as though the town is in the... More

Quaint, quiet little town with a lot of things to do. Or, just sit on the beach and enjoy the view. Great restaurants that are reasonably-priced. Everyone is friendly and helpful.Hard to get lost because the town is like a oblong circle with beautiful views. Itso bordered by Monroe Bay on one side and the Potomac on the other. Fantastic... Nice walk to view the River and beach! See fisherman and all sorts of fish and eels but need to be careful with those throwing their lines.

Trying to put this little mini-vacation we took to Colonial Beach into words may be hard. We are normally "beach-beach" people (think OuterBanks / Duck area). I took my kids here for a little summer get-away during the week since my husband was working. First let me state the good - it's a very very quiet / small town -... More

The second weekend in June is the town's Riverfest. They have 5 days of fun, food, music, drink, parades, beauty contests, and fireworks. Lots of good restaurants, boating and if course Virginia' second longest public beach.

Parking is 1$ per hour with a minimum of two hours, or you can try to get street side parking. We sort of expected there to be benches at the end to sit and enjoy the view but there arnt any.

The pier was nice very pretty, however it is like any other pier set in a less than stellar location. The niceness of the pier could in no way make up for the quaintness of the lack luster town. There is very little to see and very little to do. The majority of the beach is painful little pebbles. You... More
