Fossil beach is too much fun

I found a bunch of beautiful fossils on this beach. The hike to the beach is a little steep but very pretty. I like to dig along the shore line.

Our friends invited us camping and recommended this State Park 3 years ago. We gave it a try and now we go every year for July 4th weekend. We love the fact that there are spacious campsites, great hiking and biking options, and a nice pool and beach area.

Very nice park on the river. Very clean and spacious. We looked at the RV camping sites and they were ok just not handicap accessible

Fossil beach is a great getaway for families. We go several times a year to collect shark teeth. In the summer the beach area is great for swimming, especially with younger kids as you don't have to worry about them getting too far away from you. The hike down/up can be a little rough on some people but it luckily... More

We visited Fossil Beach in Westmoreland State Park. $7 fee to enter. There is a really nice Visitor Center will lots of interesting displays including a shark tooth collection donated by someone from the local area. Getting down to the beach involves walking down a steep in places trail that goes on for a little over a 1/2 a mile.... More

We came here for a few days in August. We normally would tent camp, but after a streak of storms and 100 degree days, we weren't willing to gamble on Mother Nature, so we opted for a two bedroom cabin. It worked out perfectly. The cabin itself (#14) was basic but clean. My only suggestion would be for more comfortable... More

Yesterday we went back to Westmoreland State Park, as we are guests travel writers for the Virginia State Park system but had not yet kayaked, ever! I already knew it was a beautiful Park but wanted to get pictures close up of the amazing cliffs that you can only reach by kayak. The park is famous for its historic CCC... More

We have visited Westmoreland State Park on multiple occasions and have had a great time on each visit! We own a small pop up camper, have 2 dogs and a 4 year old. We have stayed in both campgrounds A and B. The only difference is one has paved roads, the other is still a dirt surface. Campground A has... More

First off, the place is expensive, but there are a LOT of things to see and do if that's on your agenda. We just wanted a place to tent camp while we explored the area around it. Get ready for a fee for everything, being from out of state-add fee. Add vehicle fee. The good part is that nobody was... More

Bob I am really confused by your review. If you were camping, you didn't need to pay the parking fee or pay for swimming. When you add up those individual fees, camping is a really good deal. Yes we do charge extra for out of state visitors because Virginians' tax dollars pay for some of the park operations (so they... More
