This is our second trip to Douthat State Park, and we will be back! We spent the week here for Thanksgiving (Nov 21-28) in Cabin 6, and we didn't want to leave. Cabin 6 is a one-room efficiency and very cozy for a couple. The...More

Beautiful park with great hiking and biking trails. The beach is a quiet oasis on a hot summer day and there are a variety of boats, kayaks and boards to rent. Lodging is plentiful but you need to book early because the cabins and lodges...More

We stayed two nights in the White Oak campground and went hiking on the Tobacco House Ridge Trail and YCC Trail. We were there for "leaf peeping," but also attended the Apple Day Celebration of Appalachian Heritage and Arts & Crafts Fair. It was a...More

We timed this perfectly...the leaves were great for fall and the weather was perfect. We have visited and camped in 11 state parks in 9 months and this is my favorite!

Great place to take a picnic lunch, allow the kids to run around and I am sure in the summer enjoy the lake (fishing, boating, swimming). Plenty of hiking trails some looked to be pretty difficult. Was there in the Fall, so enjoyed the colorful...More

Since upgrading to a larger fifth wheel trailer, it's been more difficult to find campsites to accommodate. The recently opened White Pines loop is perfect. The sites are VERY large, many are at least 75 feet deep (gravel pad/driveway). The centrally located shower house /...More

As a trout fisherman who likes to fish rivers & creeks it was disappointing. Wilson Creek was dry as a bone, above & below the Lake/Pond. Today rains may help but I imagine all of the fishing will be in the Lake until winter arrives....More

My husband and I were scoping out campgrounds and we knew there were a few in the state park, beauty at its finest. We loved it. Book early everything is already gone for fall leaf changing time but we'll camp close to do a drive...More

We took a 12-mile hike on the trails in the park and it was exhausting but beautiful. We were given a good map and the trails were well-marked and offered a good variety of vegetation, scenery and elevation.

Do you have cabin's from the 30's, or later if none from that period, that are more secluded than others? My family of five is not looking for a beach view, but would love to get a cabin surrounded by trees.

Trip Advisor doesn't allow links in responses so you might want to visit our website, go to Douthat and then click under Park Trail Guide and choose facility guide. You can see how the cabins are spread out. While I won't... More

Hi! I was wondering what cell provider you have. Most people in the reviews I read report no cell at Douthat. Thanks! Adriana

Yes you can bring your own equipment. No permit is needed that I am aware of . The same rules of the water apply as in any other area. Enjoy!! Beautiful place.
