I like to go to Douthat State Park and have lunch and a glass of wine on the deck. It's fun to sit outside and hear the boats in the water. It's very peaceful and quiet. Afterwards, I will walk some of the trails nearby...More

I went camping at Douthat State Park in late August with my two teenage kids. We chose the campsite by the lake, with no electric hookups but amazing breakfast views. The campsite was packed on the weekend but cleared up and was quiet on Sunday...More

We had a great day at this park. The weather was perfect and we had a relaxing time on the mountain lake. There is plenty to do, like camping, hiking, cookouts, fishing, lake cruising, and much more. The workers here are very helpful and knowledgeable....More

Rented a ccc cabin and loved every minute. Hiking is a must do if you go to Douthat, the view from above is worth the sweat. Rent something to get yourself out on the water if you don't have a kayak or canoe or jon...More

Nice campground. Gravel and level sites. Nice roads to ride bikes on. The sites in the center of the campground don't have much shade. The outer rim towards inside furthest from the entrance are much nicer sites with more shade. The only thing I did...More

We took our one year old to the beach for the day. It was clean and well maintained. There was plenty of room to set up our pop-up. This is a great beach for small kids. We will return.

Do you want to camp out in the woods, stay in a rustic cabin? The reservation for the latter is a year long. They have fishing, swimming, hiking, educational programs, picnic areas and beautiful scenery.

Beautiful VA State Park. Campground is quiet, exceptionally clean facilities, safe and friendly host in White Oak section. Nice swimming beach at small lake with boat rentals. Hiking and mountain biking trails. Creeks for wading. Decent restaurant with friendly staff.

Do you have cabin's from the 30's, or later if none from that period, that are more secluded than others? My family of five is not looking for a beach view, but would love to get a cabin surrounded by trees.

Trip Advisor doesn't allow links in responses so you might want to visit our website, go to Douthat and then click under Park Trail Guide and choose facility guide. You can see how the cabins are spread out. While I won't... More

Hi! I was wondering what cell provider you have. Most people in the reviews I read report no cell at Douthat. Thanks! Adriana

Yes you can bring your own equipment. No permit is needed that I am aware of . The same rules of the water apply as in any other area. Enjoy!! Beautiful place.
