We just spent a wonderful Christmas staying in Lodge 34. The park is really a great place. We've camped there in our RV before and enjoyed it and checked out their cabins while we were there. We stayed with our kids and dogs. Six adults,...More

I loved this park! So much to do at the park and places to visit around the area. Park staff were extremely helpful. We stayed in the White Oak campground which had electric and water hook-ups. I like White Oak over the other campgrounds in...More

I love this park. I took a dip in the lake in early October. It was fine compared to a Colorado river or Jackson Lake in the Tetons this summer. If you tent camp, reserve in the lakefront campground for a special treat. The small...More

Loved this park. Just know that if you stay in the White Oak section and it rains, you may be trapped either in or out of the camping area. You cross a one lane bridge with no sides on it to get to the camping...More

I spent summers here with my family. A great place to make memories! The water is clear and cool. Warms up in August. Camping is great, too!

The most awesome State Park in Virginia!! Pristine and beautiful. So much to do and so little time. This park is a hikers paradise, as well as a campers paradise. I cannot say enough good things about Douthat.

Yes you can bring your own equipment. No permit is needed that I am aware of . The same rules of the water apply as in any other area. Enjoy!! Beautiful place.
