Have hiked each of the sections at different times, enjoyed each one. Very peaceful despite the suburban location, no real crowds, esp. mornings/weekdays. Well maintained, would be good for beginning hikers. Portion along Bull Run is the most scenic.

We have hiked it twice. It goes from Bull Run Park to Fountainhead Park, approximately 18 miles one way, and particularly enjoy the path that runs along Bull Run, but all of it is interesting and well maintained.

A bit of a stoner downhill to start with that in wet weather could be a bit muddy but once down the path follows the river. Very pretty with masses of photo opportunities, loads of wildlife. We saw snakes (non venomous) tortoise, butterflies and birds....More
