My four year old son, two of my closest girlfriends, and I had an exceptional experience with Assateague Island Tours. Our guide, Andrew, provided an unforgettable and beautiful sunset adventure, where he regaled us with colorful pony gossip, island lore, and fascinating history. It is evident that he has a great passion and respect for the island, as well as receives great joy in sharing his knowledge with others. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, and we were able to delight in a private fire and picnic, as well as a photo shoot with a band of wild ponies. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour to families, friends, couples, and anyone wanting to relax and enjoy this gorgeous nature escape. We can’t wait to return!

Just got home from a week in OCMD. Summer of 2020 was a challenge to find things to do that kept us socially distanced and away from crowds. Before we went I looked for excursions that wouldn’t involve other people. Came across Assateague tours private beach day. We got so much more than I expected. First I called Andrew and left a message as the weather called for rain all day. He called me back promptly and offered to cancel but suggested we wait till the next morning as the weather often changes. Turned out we had the most amazing beach weather. We met and Andrew drove us to Assateague with the most knowledgeable lecture on Assateague and the horses. When we were driving, we saw a band of horses and learned so much. Bayberry (stallion) and his band of mares walked right past our vehicle in a parade 😀. As we drove toward the beach, there was a rainbow 🌈 and we knew we would be blessed. As we drove right on the beach we got a lesson on the animals of Assateague. After finding a spot (we were the only ones ), Andrew set up a table and chairs, a cooler for our food and drinks, and tons of games to play on the beach. He brought 2 surfboards that I asked for and gave my son and his girlfriend lessons and went into the surf with them to try. We had brought a football and frisbee but there’s no need to bring anything like that. He had it covered. We played horseshoes and frisbee and Andrew thought us how to play bocce. We had a fantastic day as a family. Had no idea that Andrew would be with us all day to entertain and teach us. At the end, he took some family portraits which he sent to me the very next day. I highly recommend this tour. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and did I mention we were the only ones on the beach? 😀

My friends booked this experience for my birthday weekend. There were 6 of us (age 45ish) and I must admit that initially I was concerned about a "tour" and following a regimen.
This tour/event ended up being such an upbeat, yet relaxing and enjoyable afternoon/evening. It made our girls' weekend trip!
Andrew is such a genuine and sincere person and his accounts of the island's history were very entertaining. The best part was parking for a beach bonfire with cocktails and other food and then meandering around to see the horses and natural beauty of the untouched island. The tour itinerary was completely flexible for those who want to get out and walk/branch off vs. those who prefer to stay in/ride and see/hear more. (Also, for what it's worth, the ride on the beach was very smooth and not at all bumpy or rough for those who are prone to motion sickness).

My family and I had an amazing time on our sunset tour. We were able to see the horses, and we learned a lot about the island. We had a private spot on the beach, got to walk up to the sand dunes, and enjoyed a campfire and s’mores. Andrew went above and beyond for us. We all played Bocce Ball, he brought sand toys for my 9 year old sister, and when he found out we were celebrating my other sister’s birthday, he surprised her with cupcakes! We saw a beautiful sunset, and we have amazing pictures to cherish forever. If you’re visiting Ocean City you have to do a tour, you won’t regret it. It was truly so amazing and it’s something that we were so happy to experience!

If you are thinking of booking DO IT do not hesitate! This was hands down the highlight of our summer! Andrew is a walking encyclopedia a wealth of knowledge! He is so attentive & catered to our every need making the day so family oriented! We happen to have young children 3 under 5 & he couldn’t have been more gracious playing games engaging with our children making them feel special he has a such kind gentle demeanor. He took us all over the island he knew exactly where to go to spot the ponies we got lucky that day and saw them on the beach & dunes thanks to Andrew! He set us up on private beach area I couldn’t believe a place like this exists in America so desolate & peaceful!! A welcome change to the usual hustle & bustle! He had a canopy, chairs, table, water, boogie board, games & toys! He even taught our young children how to play bocce ball on the beach a fond memory for all! I was highly impressed with his outfit he’s blowing it out the water so hurry & book yourself a Wonderful experience..Adventure awaits!! Very Very happy customers!!

We loved our trip with Andrew. We did the midday tour. About a week before the trip Andrew asked if we could meet at 830am instead of 10. We were hesitate but agreed. We are SO glad we did. We were able to see some horses on the way in and out and our time out on the beach was amazing. Andrew swam a bit with us and was very attentive. We had great conversations and we were even able to see some dolphins while we relaxed. Getting out early was great since there was no wait and it wasn't too hot! All in all, we will definitely be coming back and touring with Andrew in the future.

Andrew masterfully facilitated our evening of privately magical girls'-trip frolicking. He arrived early and waited an additional 20 minutes for his late guests, without giving indication to any irritation. We carelessly extended our adventure beyond the designated time, but never felt rushed. Andrew created the atmosphere for a very easy, well-appointed beach campfire, but so much more. Andrew even humbly offered uncommonly skilled photography to beautifully capture our adventure as well. He sent us pictures the same day although we had no expectation of such. Andrew is an uncommon gem, whose bright spirit and observant, anticipatory nature set the stage for extraordinary. His energy itself is a significant contribution.

This a definite must see while you are in Ocean City if you want to get away from the crowds and see some nature. Andrew met us in his Over Sand Vehicle, drove us to Assateague and showed us all the sights, gave us the history and shared his extensive knowledge of ponies, birds, deer and other wildlife. High tide prevented the full extent of the trip, but did not interfere with our enjoyment. He is great with young kids as well. Kids really enjoyed the campfire - we cooked up a simple outdoor meal topped off with s'mores.

We had an amazing sunset half-day trip with Andrew. He told us all about the history of the island and the horses. We even came across some of the special deer who live there, the small Sika deer. We had a fire by the beach in a very uncrowded area, and he set everything up for us. Andrew is also a very talented photographer and took some great portraits of our family by the water and with the horses in the background. I plan to recommend him to several friends and will use Assateague Island Tours again.

WOW! Andrew is the best tour guide we've ever had. He is personable, knowledgable, courteous and kind. Andrew knew the name of every pony on Assateague and never stopped giving us more and more history and information about Assateague and it's ponies. We had an awesome private beach day and it was worth every penny! Don't forget the tip! Seems like this sweet guy works for pennies for what you get for your money!
