We brought 40 scouts on a camp out and all the conditions were perfect. This place is a beautiful beach without the busyness or commercialism of an Ocean City. Winds were coming off the ocean with kept the flies and mosquitoes away. Temps were good and the horses did not enter our camp where we had kitchen set. If tent... More

If you love the beach and hate crowds, then this is your beach! More family friendly, nice bath houses with hot water, snack bar and beach store - without the craziness of OC. Plus - the horses are usually around - somewhere. Please don't be like the uneducated - or non-readers - DO NOT TOUCH THE HORSES!! It's their beach... More

Beautiful and amazing is how I would categorize the Assateague National Seashore. Yes, you can see wild horses, but the natural beauty in itself is more than what you expect. Expert tip: Rent a 4x4 or 4x4 capable car and get a permit to drive on the beach. You will see sights, which are otherwise impossible to see. Check out... More

What a beautiful seashore this is in Maryland. The beautiful sandy white beach is so pretty and the chance to see one of the many horses that roam freely on the land. It is a fun adventure. Just don't think these horses are tame, they are wild and are not afraid to take a bite if you get to close.... More

Went here in April and it was brisk, but no bugs and we were able to get a campsite! I recommend going out of season when the crowds are smaller, fewer bugs, and you can get campsite reservations (can be hard in the summer). Wake up early and go for a walk down the beach to enjoy yourself.

If you're in the OC area you must visit Assateague Island park and see the wild horses. They're actually not afraid humans but they've had no human maintenance or care. And have never spent a night in a barn or been feed food by a human. They're 100% on their own. But there are areas to access the beach and... More

2 nice boardwalk trails that are wheelchair accessible, the Life of Marsh trail is amazingly beautiful. There are beach wheelchair available, but we didn't use them. The boardwalk does go pretty far onto the beach, so we parked the wheelchair there. Everyone was nice about it. Bug spray & hats needed for the wooded trails.

This is an awesome place to spend the day! It costs $20 for the day to access the National Seashore.....well worth the price. The south beach is awesome. Plenty of beach and not overly crowded. The best part was seeing the wild ponies. Best time to see them is around 4:30-5:00. This is when they come out to eat and... More

On our way into the park we were greeted by wild horses grazing right under the huge warning sign. Camped in our RV in Oceanside; no services but very close to the beach. We took a long beach walk in the morning on an all but deserted beach. Thank goodness that this land is protected from development. On our way... More

This is a very beautiful beach and such a treasure. We only visit beaches that are protected since we don't like the hotels and high-rises and garbage that accompanies all the tourists. My kids were able to do the Jr Ranger program and warn their badges. The water was very cold, but that didn't stop most people from going in!!... More
