Description:

Captain Barry'sBack Bay Cruise is an INTERACTIVE skill building experience....

Captain Barry'sBack Bay Cruise is an INTERACTIVE skill building experience. We are a floating classroom, a research vessel with HANDS-ON FEET-WET lessons. One of the many things we do is get off the boat on the sandbars to go DIG IN THE MUD FOR CLAMS. Maybe we can catch some to eat. Then it's back on the boat to cruise to a crabbing spot where you will Pull CRAB-POTS on board to identify and see the days catch. If you have the courage I will teach you how to HOLD A CRAB without getting pinched. Navigating our way to Shell Island Beach, we stop and get off the boat for some SHELL COLLECTING than back on the boat for Capt. Barry's favorite activity... hunting for jellyfish. we will then HAUL in the trawler net and will see that it is full of Marine life and sea creatures.... this is always a challenge! Time to slow the boat down to enter the shallow waters.... how many birds can you identify? we use all of our senses-SOUND,TOUCH,TASTE and SMELL- to make our cruises informative and fun. They are is never any pressure always lots of fun.. you can relax, sit back on the boat and be the official photographer, or you can get into it. This is the real deal to get your hands dirty and feet wet so you will experience the life of a Chincoteague Waterman.

We brought our 2 kids (ages 7 and 3) on this fantastic two-hour, hands-on experience. Captain Barry immediately takes over and made sure to keep the parents out of the way while he interacted with the kids during the entire trip. We learned about the history of the island, went to a couple of smaller islands to explore sea life,... More

We've been going out with Captain Barry for going on 7 years now. Each trip is a new adventure - always something new to see in and on the water. Today we saw his experiments with cultivating a new type of oyster, pulled up two types of puffer fish in a crab trap and spied a gull eating a dead... More

We had a great time today with Captain Barry! He is great with children and about as layed Back as can be. The trip started out with Capt'n Barry telling my granddaughter there are no rules. We then visited many locations in the bay and had hands on with Fish, crabs, jelly fish, and lots more. You can't lose Captian... More

Very happy that I decided to extend our stay in Chincoteague by a day and take Capt Barry's tour. Probably one of the best experiences my six year old son has ever had. We both thoroughly enjoyed exploring the backbay islands with Capt Barry who's engaging personality keeps the entire trip interesting. I want to go again 😀.

Every have that one person in your life that inspired you to learn more about...something? An experience that made such an impact, it helped shape your future? This type of experience is exactly what we should be looking for to influence our kids, or maybe ourselves! Captain Barry gets his participants up, and out on the living water/land and space... This was a great experience. Thoroughly enjoyed by the 11 and 8 year old, mom, and grandma and grandpa. Captain Barry is a great and fun teacher.

Excellent time. Highly recommend!! Our three kids (5, 3, and 1) had an amazing time splashing in the bay learning about all the marine life - hands on. We really enjoyed how personal the whole experience was. Can't wait to cruise with Captain Barry again soon.

Really enjoyable hands-on, feet-wet learning. Our kids, ages 11 and 5 loved it. Captain Barry was very encouraging and helped our city boys enjoy nature up close and personally. Only one warning for some who may be sensitive: Be prepared for some colorful language.

This was our second Sea Life Expedition with Barry. We highly recommend his cruises. He is entertaining and highly knowledgeable. Our daughter (7) always learns so much and has a fantastic time exploring the bay. Don't miss out on this adventure!!

This is a delightful way to spend an evening. Cap'n Barry is a wealth of information about the back bay. We toured the bay, dug a few oysters and clams, saw gulls and loads of birds. The sunset, complete with dual rainbows, was magnificent on our evening out. Wonder if the Captain had anything to do with it??? Will definitely... More
