Our two granddaughters, ages 8 and 9 took 30 minute riding lessons. It was pricey ($40), but worth it for the thrill of having 30 minutes on a real pony and actual riding lessons. The $7 pony "ride" would have been more of a younger kid's activity. The instructor Megan was very good. There is also a museum around the... More

We visited during pony penning week - it was crowded. Stopped in here with two kids (age 10 and 19). The show was amazing. They have a charming gift shop (affordable). Highly recommend taking kids here. Adults loved it too. It was quite hot and crowded in the arena area but to be expected. The staff was friendly and very... More

We made a couple stops at the Pony Centre. The kids enjoyed petting some of the ponies. We were expecting there to be more to do. We returned for an evening pony show. Probably on the expensive side ($10 adults, $7 kids), but the kids enjoyed it. It was interesting to learn about some of the history of the ponies,... More

Even the big circus' have stopped exploiting our national treasures (our wild animals) But in this case, they have not. These gorgeous, sweet, once wild ponies are doing "tricks" to the unashamed delight of those who do NOT get it. The shop is ok. The employees not friendly. The "show's music is loud, the lights are bright & swirling and... More

Sorry, it's not a dog and pony show, just ponies, beautiful ponies, all very loved who consider it a part of their job to show and educate the world how talented a chincoteague pony can be. If you think about it, every breed of horse started out wild somewhere in their heritage. How great that these gorgeous animals can walk... More

My husband and I were in Chincoteague Island during "Pony Swim'' week, Several weeks before, I made a reservation to take a lesson on a Chincoteague Pony. I own and show horses here in Florida and I met the weight requirement (under 150 pounds) so I definitely did not want to miss out on this opportunity. Not all of the... More

This is one of the places in town you can see the Chincoteague ponies up close, which for horse fans is a must do. This year we also attended the pony show and enjoyed it very much. My girls esp enjoyed getting to see the poinies up close after the show. The seating is first come first served, so arrive... More

My 11 year old daughter had been so excited to ride a Chincoteague Pony. They have specific times of the day to do these rides. The cost was only $7. But she only went in a small circle 2 times and the pony is led by 2 young teenage girls. I'm sure they offer different types of things to do... More

we stopped in and my daughter decided she did not want to ride a pony. they have several ponies fenced in that you can get a chance to pet or get some close up photos. it is really only a gift shop unless you ride a pony or got to an evening show, which we did not. large gift shop... More

Now I'm not a real pony guy but I think this was really cool, had a lot of information, things that I would've never known and I like to learn. I was pretty impressed with the layout the people were very friendly and the horses were too! The ponies look very well-kept the girls worked very hard and the trainer... More

We arrived in Chincoteague and I called an reserved a horse riding lesson (30 mins.) at the center for the following day. I highly recommend you call for reservations. My 7 year old daughter, who has been taking riding lessons for a few months, got to ride the great-great grand-daughter of Misty (Omg!) and was in her "horse heaven". She... More
