We specialize in the wild ponies! Ask about our “Money Back Guaranteed Pony Tour”.

Family friendly nature tours of Chincoteague and Assateague Islands. Our trip combines sight-seeing and a guided tour together. We search for wild ponies, dolphin, bald eagles, sea turtles, sting rays, all manner of wild fowl, and local creatures. We talk about local history, culture, seafood industry, economy, and modern day life. Our signature “Around the Island Tour” covers over 25 miles of coastline, in 2-2.5 hours, never passing the same spot twice. We specialize in taking small groups, on extended trips, into isolated areas. Most trips take 6 guests max, but we’ve added a 33’, 14 passenger boat to our fleet. We run our 33' boat on our morning trips and by request for larger groups. Local family owned and operated business by Capt. Dan, his wife Miss Abby, and his father Capt. Ray.

Chose Captain Dan's because they had a opening on the day we wanted and boat leaves just down street from our condo. Captain Ray was at helm. Boat only take 6 passengers max, so like getting a personal tour. Ray from area and very informed. Took us off the normal tour route to make sure we saw some ponies. Call... More

Go for the Money Back Guaranteed Pony Tour. We saw ponies on the first tour four years ago but chose the Guaranteed Tour this time, just in case it was luck then. Wow! Five herds. Granted not all of them were at a close distance but three were. Unbelievable! Bald eagles and dolphins too. Captain Dan is very knowledgeable about... More

First, you need to call for a reservation. The small boat hold only six (no head) but there is plenty of room and the boat is very comfortable. Captain Dan runs an excellent 2 hour tour of the island and gives you an comprehensive summary of the shifting sands, erosion and rebuilding of islands by nature as you venture out... More

If you want a relaxing tour the island I highly recommend Captain Dan's. The pontoon is very comfortable. He will talk and tell you all about the islands. I love to see the horse. But I think my favorite was to see the lighthouse . Take the time out and go on Captain Dan pontoon boats. Sit back and relax... More

My sister and I have visited Chincoteague several times but always off season, enjoying the peace and beauty of both the town and the refuge. This summer we decided to take a quick weekend getaway in late July the weekend after the pony swim. Having taken a trip with Captain Dan a few years ago, we wanted to go again... More

Captain Dan is personable and knowledgeable about the local scene and history. He steered is into a huge and active school of dolphins and just let us just drift for 15 minutes enjoying the show.

The cruise was great. Captain Dan was a knowledgeable and engaging guide. The tour was never rushed with just enough time spent observing wild horses, dolphins and a bald eagle. Highly recommend.

We didn't think we'd get to take the trip around the island to celebrate a birthday because of the storm coming but thankfully we made it. What a delight!! Party of six and we all just had a fabulous time. Everyone could not stop talking about it. Captain Dan's boat was very comfortable, He is a seasoned navigator and a... More
