The Chamber of Commerce was very helpful in planning my trip to Chincoteague. They explained the operations of both the Virginia and Maryland sides of Asseoteague Island and recommended hotels that fit my particular needs (traveling off season with a pet). If you have questions planning your trip, call the Chamber of Commerce first.

The Chamber’s visitor center is located in the middle of the traffic circle in the middle of town. The volunteer staffing the center was very helpful. There was a comprehensive selection of helpful printed material for visitors.

In the middle of Chincoteaque Island, you will find the Chamber of Commerc located inside the traffice circle not far from the park opening. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. There's plenty of information you can find here. Make it a stop on your first visit or any time thereafter.

We stopped here to find out what we should not miss while in the area and the lady who helped us was great! She asked us clarifying questions and then helped us with activities and sites that would fit our schedule. She and the other lady in there were so nice!

As you com onto the Island via the bridge, just keep going straight on Maddox to you see the traffic circle. It is located inside and jam packed with all things helpful in planning out your days/time on the island. The staff really get into helping you and they know so much about what is going on current event wise. Always eager to help. Just a reminder: It is kinda small so there is no public restroom, but just a block or so down is McDonalds. This road leads you right onto the Refuge where they have the southern herds and south pen. If you need a bathroom before you get to your hotel, there are public restrooms on Main street across from the library. When you came onto the island, at the red light, you would have turned to your right and would be on Main Street, the historical district. Most all things happened on these two roads. If you haven't already requested your free brochure, you can get one here but it is wise to get one in advance so you can plan your trip and get in as much as you can because let me tell you, this small island packs a lot on it per square mile, all 9.1 miles of it!
