Chincoteague is a fine spot for the casual biker. We rented from the Bike Depot (they have other rentals as well), left our car in the parking lot and crossed the bridge to the Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge. Trails were mostly well-marked, and we used the map provided by the Bike Depot. We began with the lighthouse (“The mosquito capital of the world”), which was lovely (here the trail wasn’t asphalt and we did walk our bikes up the last hill). Then, we took the main road and turned left on the Black Duck Trail. We rode to the pony corral and then backtracked to the Wildlife loop. Here we took a right turn to the beach—lovely, almost isolated and beautiful with a deer grazing just a few feet from us. We could see a long view of the lighthouse as we left Assateague and returned to the Bike Depot. The clerk there was very professional, and we spent very little time checking in and out. The bikes worked well, and I was happy to be able to rent a basket to stow my “stuff” for the ride.

We rented bikes to use on Assateague. The staff were extremely helpful and flexible: they quickly found us bikes in the correct size and got us on our way, and then rented us a beach umbrella when we returned the bikes later. I was able to settle the bill at the adjacent hotel after closing time. Rental was a total bargain, especially since there is no charge to bike onto Assateague, and it was a great way to see the island. My kid enjoyed the ponies who live at Bike Depot too!

We stayed at the Refuge Inn, and rented bikes from the Bike Depot three different times during our week stay. It's $3 an hour and you pay when you return the bike. If you don't bring your own helmet and bike lock, you can rent them.

The Wildlife Refuge is directly across the bridge from the Bike Depot, so its so easy, safe and convenient for a family to ride over there.

My husband and I rent bikes first thing in the morning. We were able to park at the location. We rented 2 bikes and a basket to hold our water bottles and small backpack. We rode to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. There was plenty of paved paths with clear signage. The bikes are basic - no gears. Just be careful with your pant leg- my bike did not have a chain guard and my pant leg got caught once. Easy fix- rolled up my pant leg. We rode for a little more than 3 hours. The return process was easy. You settle the bill when you return the bikes. By the time we returned our bikes there was a small line to check out bikes. Great time. Had lots of fun and very inexpensive activity. Don’t forget to pick up your map from the shop before you leave!

The Bike Depot is convenient to making your way to Assateague, and biking is the perfect way to see the island. The paths are well marked, and you can make your way down to a less populated area of the beach. Prices are reasonable, and there was a variety of bike and helmet sizes.

This was the perfect location to rent bikes to ride over to Assateague Island. We were able to park our car in the lot, and the bridge to Assateague is very close. The owners were very nice and helped fit us with the best bikes. The rental prices were super reasonable. My daughter and I rented for about 2 hours, and it was under 10 dollars. They also had umbrellas, chairs, boogie boards, etc. for rent. Very convenient! We would definitely rent here again if we ever make it back to the island.

We rented two bikes with a lock and basket for one day during our recent trip (which was all my legs could handle!). The staff was very friendly and the rates were very reasonable. The bike shop was in a good location to where we were staying and we were able to leave our car at the hotel and walk to get bikes. It is also very close to the park so it makes for an easy trip. I'm sure we'll be renting bikes from here again in the future.

This place is so good, it doesn’t need another review to set that. I walked in, got a bike for my kid with minimal paperwork and the option to return it after the place is closed. The bike paths nearby are perfect. The rates are great. I’m glad I didn’t drag my kid’s bike with me from home.

We rented geared bikes for 2 days. The shop is soooo conveniently located (both to the bridge to the Wildlife Refuge and to our rental house). Bikes were clean and in good condition and got us where we needed to go! Staff was friendly and helpful. We will rent there again!!

We rented a tandem bike and child's bike. Prices are reasonable, friendly staff, in & out very quickly. Easy parking & it's right next to the path leading into the wildlife refuge. Awesome! They even rent baskets for the bikes.
