A favorite spot to walk in the woods and listen to the stream. The trail is currently under construction, but with the addition of new bridges and walk ways, the trail will be a great place for both hikers and bikers.

We were in Charlottesville for a couple of days and took the opportunity to walk along the Rivanna Trail. We went to the northerly end, walked back towards the southerly end which is beautiful and suggest that is the best way to follow the trail....More

I am fortunate to live near Rivanna Trail, so going there is very convenient. It is a welcome oasis in the city, and is reasonably well maintained.

Great trail to enjoy the river and sun via bike, roller skates or walking. Plenty of parking by the bridge.

This trail is an absolute gem. It manages to find quiet greenspace in unusual nooks and crannies as it circumnavigates C-ville. Even those well-acquainted with the town will find themselves in places they never knew about. It's a superb escape for residents and out-of-towners alike....More

The trail system is composed of (mostly) connected trail segments going all the way around the city. There is variety in the type of trails depending on the segment. Some are along waterways, others climb hills. Most are unpaved, but there are paved sections. Depending...More

My favorite walk or hike is next to water so we enjoyed our walk next to the river as tubers came by. Very relaxing and quiet.

The Rivanna Trails follow the Rivanna River and are an easy hike or jog. Plenty of room on each path and the joggers, bikers, and dog walkers all seem to share this paths easily. While very busy when we visited (Saturday morning) it did not...More

There are a number of bike shops in town; two that I know offer rentals are Blue Ridge Cyclery and Bike Factory of Charlottesville--both have web sites that you can easily find.
