I LOVE running on the Rivanna Trail! I like the portion down by the river that goes under 250 to the park. When I used to live downtown, it was about 6 miles to the Riverside Park parking lot! I would always be about to die and then I hit the river and is just so serene. I highly recommend... More

Accessed a trailhead by the entrance to the new 5th Street Station. This is a good trail that takes you alongside the creek and is an oasis of green quiet amoungst the hustle and bustle of the busy roads. It appears that there are a variety of access points to add variety to your walk or run along the trail.

There is a lot of variety on this system of trails and I've seen quite a bit, thanks to my son who lives in C'ville. The trails are scenic and we saw few people. The noise of traffic is present but that is expected on an urban trail. I'm looking forward to more hikes on my next trip to C'ville.

Cville has an undeserved rep for being pretty, big on nature, etc. Yet, its only really pretty with the wealthy horse farms west of the city. Cville itself, not so much. Unless you like crowded streets and big box stores. Bike paths? Yeah right. Part of this trail has a bike path, which is nice enough. Not terribly long, just... More

I'm not a fan of this trail - much prefer the Monticello trail. I feel unsafe. It's just not as nice as other trail systems I've been on.

We spent 15 minutes driving around C'ville trying to find various entrances to the trail. We never found a marked parking lot or a marked trailhead, so it was unfortunate but we were unable to go for a walk on the trail. Maybe it is because we are from the northeast where these things are clearly marked.

This trail, which more or less circles Charlottesville, is an excellent idea, and many parts of it are both scenic and safe. There are a few sections that are a bit on the seedy side, particularly when it meanders under bridges and in some sections of the woods, where you pass what look like homeless villages. In those areas, even... More

Nice trail, somewhat hard to find if you not familiar with the area. Could be marked better along the trail. Overall, nice quiet walk along the river.

The Rivanna trail was well-marked by signs and not too difficult for beginning hikers. We were disappointed with the amount of trash visible along the route and there were times when you had to cross a busy street to continue. After about nine miles in we just stopped and headed back into Charlotteville as it turned into a boring challenge.... More

I enjoy getting out and walking the trails. I love seeing what nature and taking in the fresh air. Going on these trails are great for everyone and good exercise. Get out and enjoy it.
