We had been coming to this property for 12 years on an annual trip with friends. Once the new management took over we saw a steady decline in the maintenance of the course, coupled with an aggressive rate increase. They got rid of 9 holes and then randomly declared that all non-members could only book tee times after 11am. It's a shame because we loved coming here, but I cannot recommend anyone travel to the property for a golf trip.

Lovely small town and beautiful beach. The gentle waves, gorgeous views and salty water ensured that we did not miss the ocean. We enjoyed the shops and restaurants, especially the Shanty and Oyster Farm Seafood. We will be back and likely rent again at the outstanding Bay Creek resort.

Aa a native of Virginia Beach, I have have played virtually every course in the Tidewater region. I have also had the pleasure of playing some of the finest Williamsburg courses. Bay Creek is by far and away the most incredible course I have yet to play. The incorporation of the natural landscape in the design is what makes the course so spectacular. At times you will want to pause your play just to enjoy the scenery of the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. The course is usually kept in mint condition and the greens roll fast and true. If you are planning on being in the area, and are a golf enthusiast, you must not go home without playing Bay Creek.

We returned to Cape Charles July 9-16, 2007. Unfortunately, the airlines lost my luggage so that put a damper on our week there. We rented a duplex, Seahorse, at Bay Creek. Could not have been nicer. One of our son's was married July 14 on the Marina boardwalk/beach at Bay Creek Resort. When introduced Mr. & Mrs. all the boats in the marina tooted their horns. It was awesome. The whole day was perfect. EVERYONE loved Aqua Restaurant and the food was FANTASTIC. The crab cakes were the best! We also had a brunch there Sun. which was the best we've ever been to. We did sail on the Serenity Schooner with both families. The best sunsets by far, except for Maui maybe. Dolphins followed our boat & we also saw many sting-rays. Ate several times at Kelly's Irish Pub & each time found the food great. We had our rehearsal dinner there & Steve was our requested waiter. Excellent service! The owner, Gene, was most accomodating. Did a little shopping in Virginia Beach, went crab fishing off the Cape Charles wharf. golfed, walked the beach at low tide finding shells, & the family went deep sea fishing on the JENNIFER. Two sons caught sharks. So many people want to go back, including us! Paradise has been found!

I have played the Palmer and Nicklaus courses at Bay Creek several times over the years and think they are two of the toughest, most beautiful courses I have ever played. Yes. If you are a 20 handicap or above you are going to score high on these courses. Especially the Nicklaus course. Don't cry about it. Enjoy the beautiful and stunning views, have a beer and great sandwich at the Coach House tavern and stop whining about shooting 112. For everyone else. Play these courses. You will not be disappointed.

I'm astounded that the members haven't drawn & quartered the groundskeeper. Their Bermuda rough is kept so long that one bounce out of the fairway results in an extensive search. The ball disappears below the surface of the rough, and can't be found without a tremendous amount of effort. In the era of pace of play concerns, this is an irresponsible practice. Keep your rough cut shorter. The Bermuda grass will exact a sufficient penalty for an errant shot... don't make it cause a lost ball penalty.

Their greens are in atrocious condition, with many of them more bare spots than grass.

They need to dip into capital funds, quickly, and rectify the greens, and mow their rough (at least for many yards off the fairway) much shorter.

Two fabulous courses designed by Nicholas and Palmer! Views of the Chesapeake are delightful and the entire property is well maintained with lovely homes, a nice club house and a good restaurant.

April 27, 28 and 29 Visit. Practice round on Friday and played two one day tournaments on Saturday (Palmer Course) and Sunday (Nicklaus Course). Small tournaments with about 20 players each day give or take. Nice pro shop and restaurant. Very good service. Golf courses in good shape. Great greens and fairways. Better than average bunkers. Driving range ok. Large practice putting and chipping green. Great setting. Will certainly return. Highly recommend!!
