Shenandoah River State Park (a.k.a., Andy Guest State Park) is a gem along the shores of the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. The location is beautiful and it provides access to everything from a primitive individual-site campground and a group campground with a full-service...More

This park was absolutely stunning. Sites were extremely large, very private, level and lots of gravel to park. Fire pit and two poles to hang a lantern or a clothesline. The camp host sold firewood. Trees between each site made it seem like you were...More

The campground is amazing. Spacious with alot of privacy in between the lots with trees and bushes. Very quiet surroundings, several trails, easy access to them and to the river. The RV site I was at was so level I hardly had to do any...More

A group of friends and coworkers both rented cabins and used the RV section with nothing but good reviews. I will go with my RV colleagues who said the ease of use and handy hook ups as well as roomy camper sites were much above...More

So far I've only come to the park for hiking a few times, but I enjoy it every time. Still working my way through all the trails. I could see how tubing down the river could be fun. The visitor's center is nice and I...More

We stopped by this state park on our way through the area. RV camping is adequate, but there isn't much shade. Also, sites are closer together than other state parks. The river area had some litter (alcohol bottles, cans, broken glass), but was otherwise enjoyable....More

This park has something for everyone. Flat trails. Mountainous trails. A very fine nature center. A canoe launch. Picnic areas. Primitive camping on beautiful flat sites right by the river; RV sites with all the hookups; cabins; horse accommodations. There is smooth water and there...More

Shenandoah River State is a great alternative for the bigger Shenandoah NPS. RReservation system worked well. Vaster center reasonable amount of souvenirs and support. The only thing I would ask for is, even though maps where given, is that trails have mile markers... I would...More

Yes and they are located along the river. When you go, stop by the visitor center to get a map and ask a park ranger for the location of the picnic areas. In the summer, they go fast so, if you can, go early to stake out... More
