This is a must stop for first time visitors to the area. Not only do they have a wealth of information in the way of magazines and brochures for the immediate area and VA, their staff is quite knowledgeable. They also have some nice displays to supplement the National D-Day Memorial which is adjacent.

We really enjoyed the Visitor Center with a Brother-in-law who is a Firefighter the room devoted to the Bedford firefighters was great. The local activities they highlighted to include the D-Day Memorial and local artisans like the pottery makers and harvested peanuts was great.

Oozing with Southern Charm. You will not leave without signing the guest book. D Day and Poplar Forest tickets (and probably others) available here. Lots of attraction info and gift shop. AND award winning clean bathrooms.

When we stopped by the Bedford Visitors Center, we were greeted warmly, given good instructions about the facility, and offered coffee! Information about the entire area is well organized and extensive. There is a model of the D-Day Memorial that gives one a good idea of the set up and some of the history and symbolism of the memorial. We... More

This lovely, clean, informative visitor's center should be the first stop for those looking to explore the central Virginia region. (It actually has brochures and maps for a much wider area, but the helpful staff and volunteers are local experts.) Our family spent about 45 minutes browsing the tourist brochures, watching a D-day film, chatting with the staff and having... More

The center overs travel information for for the local area but also neighboring states. You can find travel brochures from Maine to Florida. They have short movies on Bedford, D-Day Memorial and Poplar Forest.
