There are number of really cute shops on the two main streets in the town. Two large and interesting antique shops, a number of good restaurants, and the Bedford Boys Tribute Center. The county seat is in the town also. The Liberty Station Restaurant is a favorite located about 2 blocks from the center of town.

The downtown is only about 4 blocks but a number of nice shops, galleries, and restaurants. We have been in Bedford several times but this is the first time we decided to walk and shop the downtown. It made for a great day.

Home to the National D Day Memorial, with several places to dine during the day, friendly and helpful locals, I've visited the place at least five times and would happily do so again,

Town is squeezing the life out of Centertown, with outrageous electrical charges, and taxes that make no sense at all. ..that ultimately takes any decent profits. Stores open, and close. It's a pattern for the last 20 years.

Bedford is a quaint turn of the century town with a gorgeous background of the Peaks of Otter. Home of the " Bedford Boys" and the National D-Day Memorial, you will need a few days to enjoy the step back in time of this historic town.
There is shopping at antique stores to find some rare and regional keepsakes and a few restaurants (shortfall) within walking distance. Highly recommend Town Kitchen and Azul's, both on Bridge street for lunch and Diggers Seafood or the Bedford Social Club for dinner. All are great but uniquely different!
If you overlook the many vacant storefronts, you see a proud town and friendly residents who take pride in telling you about Bedford. The hometown jeweler Arthur's is a mainstay for the town. We enjoyed the selection of items in the store, especially the "Bedford Watch Co." watches.
Take in the museum tour and maybe the old train station (Liberty Station Restaurant) during you stay.

This downtown area is not "happening!" On the main street there is really only a couple of antique shops...that's all (as far as shopping is concerned). The coffee shop was closed... it kind of had a solemn feel to it. There was a really nice art studio off of Depot St... This town has obviously seen better days... just needs some rejuvenation....

I moved to Bedford 22 years ago, and Centertown was a vibrant place to go down to. But over the years the town has had its troubled times, and Centertown is a lot of vacant buildings. If you like old architecture, this is a place to visit. The old courthouse is a place to see. There is many antiques shops and a great jewelry store.
Centertown may not be what it once was, but Bedford County has many places to visit.

After reading some reviews we wanted to stop and take a look. Cute but was not worth getting out of the car for. There was not much to see or do.

Love the feel that you have stepped back in time. I just wish they had more stores with current merchandise, like gift shops with local items and clothing stores and not so many antique stores.
