Vermont Country Store is a great destination, with just about any kind of merchandise one can think of, including clothing, old time toys and games, housewares, cleaning products, home decor and food items. The store is big on nostalgia, having items that one doesn't see...More

The building is interesting as it’s been a store for many decades. The merchandise is certainly unusual. We enjoyed our visit.

From the cheese samples to the old games I hadn’t seen since childhood, this place has it all! There were at least 100 people shopping in store while we were there so this place is obviously doing something right and making some serious coin. Well...More

Overpriced foreign made junk. Vermont is one off the most overused braiding of any state.. It has nothing to do with quality of the product. It is just a way to charge people way too much for products you can buy any where.

This store is always fun to shop, with many hard to find unique items for the entire family. The store has a wide range of products.

We stopped in because as buyers from their catalogue, we were interested. Usually when shopping at places like these, you get a few deals. It seems the prices here are higher than buying mail order from the same place. We still enjoyed our visit and...More

This is always a fun place to shop. It is a time machine taking the shopper back to the 40s 50s and 60s. Worth the trip!

So much fun! Things I remember from my childhood days. Great samples & wonderful fudge. Had to go back again to buy more as we ate it driving around to look at leaves. Bought my Vermont Christmas ornament. So many to choose from. I love...More

Drive time Stowe to Brattleboro (3 Replies)
Next summer, If we drive from Twin Mountain, NH to around Waterbury, VT in one day stopping at the Cabot Creamery and Stowe, VT and the next day drive Waterbury, VT to Brattleboro, VT on route 100, stopping at a couple of covered bridges and towns and the Vermont Country Store, will each day allow us a fair amount of time for site-seeing and scenic driving? Would there be a better spot to stop for the night than the Waterbury area to break up the drive?

Considering that the distances you're talking about are so short, IMHO it doesn't matter where you stop. It's only about a 3 hr drive from Stowe to Brattleboro, and 2 hrs from Woodstock to B'boro. Best to just pick which town(s) you'd like to stay in and let that dictate.

A scenic route through Vermont? (4 Replies)
This would be part of a long road trip next summer. What I know: I want to visit the shelburne, ride the Stowe rec path, stay a night in st. Johnsbury. Maybe drive the lake Champlain scenic byway or go camping in the area. My mother may decide to join me- on her bucket list: any and all of the covered bridges, a visit to the Vermont country store. Will be headed to Vermont from Boston/Cape Cod. Next on the itinerary would be Maine- the coast and Acadia NP. After that, Prince Edward...More

Can we assume that you are flying into Boston and then visiting Cape Cod and after your tour leaving from Boston? If that is so then it would probably make sense to visit Maine first, cross New Hampshire and travel south through Vermont and back to Boston. That is a start anyway.

Another Maine Adventure (Trip Report) (7 Replies)
Before I begin my trip report, I want to thank each and every person who responds to posts on this forum. While I didn't ask questions this time due to this being my fourth trip to the area, I always am reading replies to relevant (to me) posts and trip reports. I do this even when I don't have a scheduled trip to Maine. It is one of our favorite destinations. This particular trip was special because my husband and I asked my aunt and uncle if they would like to join us on a trip. They were...More

Day Three: Since all of the scheduled activities in route were completed, we headed from Gorham, NH to Pemaquid LIghthouse. This was on my uncle's list of wishes so we were hoping this was a day when we could climb up the tower. Gorgeous ride there and all of us enjoyed the scenery along the way. We arrived at the lighthouse and enjoyed climbing the tower while my aunt took photos from below. We climbed on the rocks and sat and enjoyed the views of the ocean. Such a gorgeous stop! After a few...More
