This was the second class that my son and I have taken with Spencer. It was a great experience! Spencer is very thorough, patient, and safety-aware. If we lived closer, we would definitely be class regulars. This is a not to be missed opportunity.

I recently took a glass working class with Spencer, and had such a fun time designing two small plates, which are now used almost daily in my household. Spencer was both incredibly knowledgeable, teaching me about the various glass working processes, and great to talk with as I worked.
I will definitely be returning to take one of the flameworking classes soon!

Everything about this place was wonderful. My wife and I visited Vermont from Texas during the 4th of July. Spencer's workshop is an old salvaged barn with so much character (and quite a story about how it was restored). The glass-making itself was why we went, but I equally enjoyed Spencer's knowledge, enthusiasm and willingness to answer my questions about his glass-making equipment (it's quite a set up) and the history and more technical aspects of glass-making. Whether you're into art, science or history, this is a hands-on experience for everyone. Highly recommend.

Our son took a private glassblowing class with Spencer. Spencer was prompt with correspondence. Excellent studio, professional, kind, and supportive to our teen. We will be visiting again.

My husband and I took the paperweight class while on vacation. It was absolutely amazing and it was one of the best parts of our trip! Spencer is a great teacher who clearly loves his art. I didn't follow directions and showed up in sandals - instead of turning us away Karen loaned me a pair of her sneakers which was very kind and much appreciated. If we ever wander into the Mad River Valley again we'll definitely be back!

Salt and Sand Studios is a great little spot near Warren Falls. While they offer yoga and glass blowing, we have only visited once and took a glass blowing class. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested. Spencer is a great communicator and teacher and the entire experience was fantastic. FWIW I had zero glass blowing experience prior to this. Great for beginners or advanced glass blowers.

We found this place online and signed up for one of Spencer's glass blowing classes (to make a paperweight) as a fun event while in Vermont on vacation to ski. Spencer was very knowledgeable about every step of the process and was a very patient teacher as each of us tried to make our paperweights. He has found the perfect mix of providing interesting information about the techniques of glass blowing, the chemical characteristics of the glass, and the history of the art, and allowing us to create our own works of art while sprinkling in a bit of humor along the way. I would highly recommend this place - Spencer will make sure you come away with an incredible experience!
