$100.00 cash for my husband and I to take a 23-minute ride was not worth it. They claim it's a 1/2 ride. It is not. The driver tried to narrate the "tour" which was unnecessary and disruptive to what little pleasure we experienced during the ride. I was also distracted by the pity I felt for the horses. Would not recommend especially with children.

We were greeted for our carriage ride by Michael and his son Marcus. Michael even encouraged us to bring our 2 year old Silver Labrador on the carriage ride— and so we did! Michael and his two beautiful horses Duke and Donny took us on a beautiful carriage ride. Michael shared his love of his 17 horses with us and history about the area and mountains. This was a special part of our trip that we won’t forget.

We had a great time. The girl who took us on our ride was very informative and friendly. I wish I could remember her name. The horses were beautiful and friendly too. I just wish the ride was a little bit longer for the money we paid. But I would recommend this for a nice afternoon adventure.

Everything is great except for the price for such a short experience. It’s about 20-25 minutes at most. Very friendly staff and idyllic experience riding in a sleigh. They provide great blankets to keep you warm.

Such a fun experience! We enjoyed a great sleigh ride. Our driver was very helpful and informative. Clean warm blankets were provided. Great family experience for all ages! Jack is a great horse.

I hate to give a terrible rating but we booked a carriage ride for our weekend away. We were celebrating our 35th Anniversary and we were so looking forward to this romantic ride. I had scheduled a ride at 11:00 am on Sunday 10/30/16. We got up early enought to enjoy breakfast, check out of the Inn and we headed for our carriage ride. We arrived about 20 minutes early and we sat in the car until 11:10 when it was obvious that nobody was going to show. There was a slight drizzle happening and maybe that is why the owner did not show up but they never mentioned anything about the ride being weather dependant when I called several weeks ago to book the ride. Maybe they could have at least called me to say they would not be opening and then we would have taken our time in the morning. Totally dissapointing.

Did my research in advance of this trip to find a good source for a sleigh ride--a bucket list item for my wife. Due to the lower than usual amount of snow in Stowe this year, only one --Gentle Giants--could deliver. Their location seems to retain the snow better than do the locations of their primary competitors.
Mike, our driver, was very courteous and eager to make our trip a most enjoyable venture. The broad smile on my wife's face as we glided effortlessly thru the covered bridge and into the woods serenaded by bells from Jack's harness made this one-horse sleigh ride a priceless venture.
From start-to-finish, the entire outing lasted about 30 minutes. Based on our experience, I have no qualms about recommending Gentle Giants for your next sleigh ride.

After reading all the wonderful reviews of Gentle Giants, we decided to add this romantic aspect to a wonderful trip to Stowe. Unfortunately, it was the least romantic, tensest part of our entire weekend! Stowe is expensive in general, but Gentle Giants is the only place we felt really taken advantage of! We were greeted by the brusque, businesslike owner, who simply said "Name?... $60... You'll be in that sleigh..." and barely made eye contact. After we were sitting in the sleigh for a bit while she finished up business, she finally came over, said her name and the horse's name with the same disinterest and we were off. No more than 15 minutes later, we were back, she was out of the sleigh and collecting money from the next round of customers, and we were again waiting in the sleigh for someone to bring over a step stool to help us get out. We were in the car again by twenty minutes after the hour! I realize this was a busy weekend, but we had gone to a lot of trouble and put out a lot of money for a nice time - neither of us has mentioned the sleigh ride once since getting back in the car because I don't think either of us wants to say out load how big of a waste of money it was! It was the only time the entire weekend we felt uncomfortable and stressed.

On vacation from florida, driving through stowe we cam across gentle giants and decided to stop, we boarded the sleigh and the horse took off, the driver was not able to control the horse, he went into a full out run, she was screaming for the horse to slow down, I knew in that instance this was not going to be good. He took a curve and we were thrown out of the sleigh and the horse ended up stuck between some trees. The horse was cut up and bleeding. We appeared to be ok, however fire rescue was never called. This probably has never happened, but every business should have some emergency policy in place. We realize this was no ones fault and very random, however we called the next day to check on the horse, but the owner never really inquired how we were, and we were the customer, just a little disappointed she was not very concerned for us or our safety. Once again we realize it was not her fault and has probably never happened, kind of almost ruined our wonderful vacation

Can someone explain how a 15 minute sleigh ride is worth $50 PER PERSON?? That is not including gratuity & they make it very clear that tips are appreciated. Sorry but that's obnoxious. I would NOT recommend.

What is the cost for four adults, & do they do the rides all year long?
Written September 14, 2015
My husband paid $85 for him and I. I think they do the sleigh rides when it snows, and the carriage rides when there is no snow on the ground. We enjoyed it. I hope this helps.
