Winter is fantastic

It's so romantic in sunny winter day. There is little parking space behind the bridge. Park the car and do some great pictures.

Not quite sure that I get the idea of covered bridges. Too keep; stop the rain rotting the wood; somewhere to sleep. Well they are certainly eye-catching and abound in this part of the world where there's no shortage of raw material!

Throughout Vermont you will find Currier & Ives - like scenery, including some original wood covered bridges. Though some have been lost in the recent past to raging flood waters, a drive across one of Vermont's covered bridges, such as the one on Gold Brook Road in Stowe, is an experience you'll never forget and never regret. Do it!

We were staying at a B & B close to this bridge, so it was only a short drive. The setting is quite scenic, down in a valley between the mountains, with plenty of trees around and a pretty river that runs under it. We parked the car and walked around to absorb the atmosphere and just breathe in the... More

This scenic bridge, which is still in use in rural Vermont, outside of Stowe. It is said to be haunted, but we saw no signs of it during our visit.

I stopped by here because it was listed as a haunted attraction in Stowe. It was a beautiful bridge and lovely area. I had read online while researching how to get here that it was in a residential area, so keep that in mind when visiting. I came during the day so as to not disturb those living close by.... More

Found Emily's Bridge on Tripadvisor. It is very close to Stowe and worth stopping for pictures. It is in a quiet location so you are not on a main thoroughfare or in danger of heavy traffic. You can easily go down to the stream below to also get good photos. I especially liked the "speed limit"sign posted on the bridge:... More

Excellent example of covered bridge construction. Currently in use. Picture-perfect setting with the brook and fall foliage. It is away from the downtown tourist area. It is real Vermont. Be certain to find and photograph this covered bridge. Check to see if the "farmers market" is across the street.

For some reason I am really interested in these covered bridges in Vermont. This one had a history as well with a local girl dying here (many years ago) and is reportedly haunted. Make your own mind up but really interesting (if you like that sort of thing!,,) don't miss it.

It's just outside town and really meets the expectation of a classic Vermont covered bridge with nice scenery about.
