A very short drive from downtown Stowe, this covered bridge is a great picture spot. In addition to the covered bridge, it is possible to walk down to the water to get some great photos. It is steep, so the short walk is not for everyone. I didn't get any scares at this location, and thankfully our rental car came away with no scratches. I'm not sure if the folks that brought a Chucky doll for photos fared as well.

It was an interesting drive and several people were stopped to see "Emily's Bridge." This is said to be where "Emily" committed suicide due to being a jilted girlfriend. Sad story, as at the bottom of a bridge is a small river, quite a ways down. Very sad, very nostalgic.

This scratched our itch to experience a covered bridge in VT. Beautiful spot, and the stream beneath was so picturesque with snow when we were there. However, a big complaint from a photography perspective were all the intrusive signs. Oh well. Still, it was quite a lovely sight to visit for a few minutes. The parking pull-off area made it possible.

We’ve seen some quaint covered wooden bridges in Vermont. Emily’s bridge was my favorite because there wasn’t any other tourist around, it was quiet and peaceful, simple, and has an interesting story. Did Emily commit suicidal or got thrown off her horse and die? We got there just before sunset. As I was reading the sign, I felt my husband’s presence behind me. When I turned around, he wasn’t behind me. He was in front of the bridge taking pictures. I took several pictures and a few pictures looked like there was a fuzzy spot in them. Could it be Emily’s ghost? We’ll never know.

This is a very quaint and photogenic small covered bridge. The ghost story adds to the mystique. No, she didn't appear to or bother us.

Do some research, there are a ton of covered bridges in Vermont. Most still in use, would take 2 or 3 days to visit all, some are a marvel for the time they were built, most have had upkeep to keep them as they were way back.

This covered bridge is a one way bridge in a gorgeous setting and I got some of my best covered bridge photos here with great fall colors. There are interesting local stories on the nearby placard about Emily, and a possible haunting. Interesting and off the main roads!

Well, not that I expected anything different, but it's a covered bridge! The area is very beautiful and the bridge is in good condition. There is a parking area that can handle maybe 8 cars, and when I was there, there were 4.

Near the bridge there is a sign that explains the bridge engineering, history, and the story of Emily...

It's a nice place to visit!

It was easy to get to and not too far out of the downtown area of Stowe, Vermont. We just liked the experience of seeing this covered bridge first-hand. The history of the bridge is right there for your reading. It was a pretty cool experience seeing this bridge that was built in 1844 and still going strong.
