We visited in the summer time so we cannot comment on the skiing experience. The hotel was beautiful and the views were breathtaking. Everyone was super nice. I only wish that there were more village activities planned. I guess it is a bit ghost town-ish...More

Thanksgiving weekend, and only one lift open, apart from bunny slopes. Over 40 minutes just to buy tickets. So many skiers that we managed only two runs in first two hours. Then, the Iift line eased a bit, and we managed three runs in following...More

Great Resort but the mountain was a Disaster. Only 2 lifts one of which was the quad which had issues. Plenty of fresh powder but trails were not groomed the night prior. For the price you pay stay away. The staff at the mountain repeatedly...More

Quite a big complex in a lovely setting. Lost sense of direction in the hallways a couple of times but eventually worked out the confusing signage. Our room while basic, was complimented by a balcony and good sized bathroom. Luckily we arrived before the shops...More

Another great visit at Stowe. Our first time up for Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a very good dinner buffet in Thanksgiving night. Great food and the guest control in the restaurant was well managed. Since it was the start of the season all of the amenities...More

Our first visit here & it’s a disappointment. Ice skating, closed. Rock wall, closed. Indoor pool, tiny. Def not a 4 star hotel. Room we’re in has stained furniture & torn rug. Our overpriced breakfast was cold. Our dinner waiter was rude. Front desk staff...More

Excellent service, excellent amenities, clean, well layed out. This resort is perfect for families. We couldn't have been happier with our time there. Our family of six with children from ages 7-18 all loved it.

This was a great place to stay the night during our New England road tip! The room was updated and even had a fireplace which was fabulous to sit in front of and enjoy a glass of local wine! The mountains are beautiful and you’re...More

The Stowe Mountain Resort hotel provided valet parking, which was, on this occasion, a complementary service. The check in procedure was efficient, albeit a tad robotic and impersonal and lacked any information about the hotel. Whilst our room had a decent sized balcony overlooking the...More

I was there in the summer and did not notice lockers. I also would not be able to answer your question regarding how well the ski areas are maintained .

I don't know for sure but since it is a ski resort type of an area I would think the gondola would still be running.

Summer activity location (9 Replies)
We're thinking of traveling to Stowe for Labor Day weekend and are considering staying at the Stowe Mountain Resort. Can you tell me whether the alpine slide and gondola are within walking distance from the hotel? Also, I've seen comments about construction at the resort. Is that still ongoing and is it intrusive? Thanks!

Hi Lisa - No, the alpine slide and gondola aren't walking distance. They're a few miles up Rt. 108 (on the same road as the Mt. Road Resort, but at least ~3 miles north). It's a short drive or taxi though. :) Not sure about the construction, but perhaps others on this board can comment. Personally, I like the Golden Eagle better than the Mtn. Road Resort - bigger grounds, nicer indoor pool, and maybe a little cheaper. Enjoy!

New England Winter/Christmas Holiday (6 Replies)
Hi, I'm after some expert advice, so if any of you guys can help me I would be extremely grateful! My wife, two children (14 and 8) and I are planning a trip from the UK to New York and New England over Christmas. The plan is to go to New York first (around 21st Dec) to experience Christmas there and then leave for New England probably on Boxing Day. We've been to North Conway a couple of times and love the town, snowboarding, snow tubing and snow mobiling (a family favourite!)....More

I think you would enjoy Manchester VT for the holiday. The town decks out for Christmas, and has those quaint New England houses. In town or within a very short drive you can ski [down hill and cross country], skate, snowshoe, snow mobile and go sledding. Manchester is a very walk able town, with plenty of outlets as well as small local shops. Hildene [the home of Lincoln's son Robert Todd Lincoln] is decorated for season and gives candle light tours. If you like the idea of staying in a...More
