Amazing!!
Feb 2022
Visited here for the first time on Saturday they had just received a little under a foot of snow from a storm. I cannot say enough about it! We got there bright and early for a 9 o'clock lift start. A little later than you're average on a Saturday but hey, gives us more time to get situated. Everyone from the nice lady at the ticket window to lift ops was very friendly and the skiing conditions were amazing. Few outdoor fire pits and large wood burning fire place was the perfect touch to the lodge. A few down falls I can think of.. There didn't seem to be much orchestrating in the lift lines, which is understandable as VT seems to be suffering from an employment crisis, unsure if that is effecting S6.. But people seemed to manage ok on their own. Second to that they didn't run the double for all that long, which could be contributed to by the aforementioned issue. Another thing that stuck out to me is the constant use of the terrain park by the instructors. I didn't think it was a great idea to bring the toddler through the landing zone of the features in the park. It seemed to slow up the people who wanted to hit the features and could be a potential safety issue if someone doesn't see the little one doing the "pizza" down the landing of a jump. But all of these things were extremely easy to look past as you're taking fresh turns through the trees down "Porcupine" and "Don't Tell Your Mother". You guys have gained you're selves a life long patron! Well done and see you soon!!
Suicide Six is about right since there were six of us... but Suicide Sux is more like it.

Small mountain at big mountain prices during peak days makes this place a pass and a swipe left. We were sticker-shocked on President's Day weekend by the price-gouging at the lift ticket window, especially when the only other serious chair lift (1 out of 2) serving the mountain was down and dead until 2 p.m. that day, leaving only 2 hours left to ski with whatever irritated line of skiers and boarders were left hanging around. Long lines, crabby skiers with an impatient and smugly intolerant attitude, and a general vibe of low-level tension as many skiers were probably thinking the same thing, made this outing, for the most part, an expensive dud. It's a poor reflection on management when the only other serious chairlift serving the entire mountain isn't prepped for a price-gouging weekend like this one critical days,or even the night before. In my book, that's inexcusable. Thank God we started out at Killington and ended up in Sugarbush, with Suicide Sux a minor blip in between. Do the value-oriented math and come up with your own conclusions. But, in sum, I'd rather pay $20 more and get 20 times the mountain and level of service elsewhere. If you're going to survive as a small mountain or boutique "resort" with two chair lifts, deliver VALUE, not DISAPPOINTMENT. This was a one-time visit. And I was traveling with kid! Talk about killing oneself! 'Suicide Six' is about right, since there were six of us, but Suicide Sux captures the essence better. I actually canceled a parallel, bundled ski-and-stay at the Woodstock Inn because of this minor mess. That's their greater loss, not mine. To Management: Price it right and price it fairly when and where it counts!!! For what I paid that day, you guys owe me a round of cocktails. Boo hoo.

My son had his second trip here, (had done two five weeks ski lesson, 2018 + 2017 locally) so he wanted to go again to Suicide Six....he had super great time, and I skied with him on President Day weekend 2018, it was not much crowded. Slope were mix of hard, easy, long and short....we truly enjoyed half day skiing at Suicide six, and we do it again.

My daughter and I skied here yesterday and really enjoyed the quaintness of the resort. First off, frugal Friday price $30 lift ticket- Wow! Great bargain. Ski rental staff was so very helpful and friendly! They put our ski boots on us strapped and buckled us up and later took every thing off for us! This is outstanding service which we truly appreciated. ( I’m usually exhausted after I get those darn things on myself!) The mountain and runs were great. Not as long of runs as some other mountains but certainly challenging enough for most skiers. We were very pleased and satisfied with our day here. I would definitely return again!

Thanks so much for joining us for a day of fun in the snow at Suicide Six and sharing your memories. 2017-18 was a most memorable season for us and we’re thrilled to have been able to share “America’s oldest and most beloved ski area” with you and your daughter! Thanks especially for mentioning the great combination of service and hospitality that makes Suicide Six (and indeed our whole resort, we hope!) stand out and helps us create lasting relationships. You’d be amazed at how many of our guests return year after year, and even generation after generation, to enjoy the unique atmosphere! Alas, the 2017-18 season is behind us now, and we look forward to starting work on our summer programming soon. We hope you’ll be back to enjoy Woodstock in the summer as well, and give us a call so we can help create the perfect getaway for you! Best wishes, Rick Reno, Resort Training Manager

Suicide Six is the right place to take your kids for a nice family day of skiing. It is small enough to always find your group, but large enough to offer trails of varying challenges. The lodge is comfy and warm, and offers great views of the slopes. There is a new quad lift so usually there is no line. Woodstock and Pomfret are beautiful small New England towns, a great area to visit for a quiet relaxed vacation.

Thank you so much for joining us at Suicide Six and sharing such a nice, candid review! You’re right that Suicide Six is perfect for families, with trails about equally split between beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The lodge is spacious and comfortable; the food’s terrific; and “every trail leads to home!” In 2016-17 we added a new quad chair lift to our repertoire; expanded our terrain parks with one dedicated to kids and learners; and added small group lessons in the ski school to make it even easier to improve your skills. We’re looking forward to sharing even more improvements next winter, and hope to welcome you and yours “home” to Suicide Six often! Have a wonderful summer, and… Think Snow! What an amazing weekend at this Mountain! The torch light parade was the most amazing scene I have ever encountered. There must have been 100 skiers in perfect formation skiing down the hill. Even better was the fireworks display that rivaled the annual July 4th routine at the esplanade in Boston. Had a chance to meet the GM Charles Vanderstreet and commend him on the wonderful night. We were in from DC and this was the highlight of our families vacation. Thanks Charles, Julie, Jimbo and Mickey!! The Waltons

This is a small local and very friendly ski area. I feel very comfortable letting my small children going out and skiing on their own as I know they are safe. There are trails for all levels so no one can be left out.

This is not a big mountain but it has a nice variety of terrain and it excellent for families as all runs come back to the same place at the base and the lodge. The lodge is pleasant, with a nice large fireplace, a cafeteria and a separate restaurant where alcoholic drinks are avaialble.

Very small but nice enough. Good for beginners. (I learned to ski here:-) Great lessons and cafeteria. There are only 21 trails though and they're rarely all open. It's nice for a few hours but make sure not to be there when there are a lot of tourists. This place is overpriced so I only go once a year. There is a nice program offered to local kids in elementary school called Ski Runners. It's after school one day a week for 2 months of the winter and they ski during the afternnon in small groups with an instructor. Very fun.

Suicide Six is a small ski mountain affiliated with, or perhaps even owned by the Woodstock Inn. I am only an intermediate skier but my girlfriend is further advanced and we both found the mountain to be very enjoyable. The trails were nicely groomed and the waits at the two lifts were very minimal. The lodge had a nice roaring fire inside and actually one outside too (although it wasn't lit when we were there).

Having come from Killington the day before, it was really nice to ski a small mountain with minimal crowds. Although keep in mind that since it is a small mountain, it was filled with families/children. Which is fine accept during apres ski when the bar area was packed with young kids ordering hot chocolate.

FYI - if you stay at the Woodstock Inn during the week, you can ski here for free. We were guests of the inn but since it was a weekend, we had to pay. Would have been nice if they offered a modest discount for inn guests.

You know when you finally get to that age when you’re “skiing with the kids”? Well, we finally made it to S6 and loved it. We’re generally “big” mountain skiers (Stowe, Killington, Bretton Woods, etc.), but had such an awesome time here that we just kept looking at each other saying “why did we wait so long to do this!”

The terrain is fairly challenging and we were blessed with great snow/weather. We are converts, and will work S6 into our plans a lot more. Great lodge, food and bar. Awesome location 3 miles from Woodstock. The kids loved it and exploded skiing there. The four of us bought tickets on line for the price of putting my 6 year old in a ski program for 1 day at the big boys. Wake up like we did and go to S6! The big mountains should be ashamed of what they charge for ski school; it’s ruining the sport for multiple-child families. Thankfully we still have places like S6.

What a great review… and what a great question! Thank you so much for giving Suicide Six a try. We often remark that them minute you arrive you know you’re not at one of the “big” mountains, and that’s a good thing! Six really does have something for everyone, with an incredibly non-intimidating atmosphere for the littles and newer skiers along with the best grooming around and a healthy dose of really challenging terrain and glades… Not to mention the terrific ski and ride school; the great food, drink, and service in Pearly’s Pourhouse; and of course our relationship with the unbelievable The Woodstock Inn & Resort! We can’t wait to welcome you again… maybe give mountain biking a try next summer with our new LMNTL Bike Park?!? Thanks again, Rick Reno, Resort Training Manager

Love to ski here! Although there arent a ton of trails and none of that "glitz" at other "resorts"..this fits the bill for us when we want a low key place to ski! We didnt have to deal with crowds and the people who work there are friendly.A favorite.

Thank you so much for joining us for a day of outdoor fun at America’s oldest and most beloved ski area! We’re thrilled to be able to maintain the ambience of days gone by at “Six,” as well as top-notch personal service and terrain for everyone from first-timers to “blue cruisers” and even some challenging double black runs! 2017-18 has been a terrific year and although we’ll be wrapping it up soon we look forward to more great adventures next year… and we’d love to have you take advantage of some of our great ride-and-stay packages at The Woodstock Inn & Resort. Just give us a call any time and we’ll be happy to help you create another memorable getaway and an experience your family won't forget soon! Happy trails, Rick Reno, Resort Training Manager
