Cool.

If you haven't taken a car ferry before it is pretty cool. The ride doesn't take long, but is still long enough to get out of the car and enjoy the lake scenery and visit with other riders.

A great experience still

Still going after all these years! A delightful short trip across the lake. Memories of college times many years ago when our group made this same trip. Get out of the car and onto the lake, you'll be glad you did. Thanks to the owner and the guy who runs the ferry for preserving this gem.

a beautiful short ferry ride

On a beautiful day we took the ferry; it takes longer than driving but is fun. The view is gorgeous, the ride is smooth, and it. breaks up a drive.

Great way to get across the lake!

The ferry runs constantly from shore to shore, taking roughly 7-10 minutes one way. Going from Vermont to NY, Fort Ticonderoga is only about 2 minutes from the ferry. Those running the ferry were very friendly.

One of the longest running ferries in America
Aug 2019
During the months between May and November the Fort Ticonderoga Ferry can get you from New York State to Vermont. The ferry was started during the American Revolution and has continued ever since. This is a cable driven ferry and it takes about 15 minutes. It is also not very expensive $9.00 one way for a car cash only. You can also ride as a passenger for a dollar. As you ride across you get great views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. There is one draw back there are no bathrooms or places to park on the Vermont side, only on the New York side.

Very close to Fort Ticonderoga
Aug 2019
The most direct way to get to Fort Ticonderoga from Shoreham VT and other nearby locales. Takes about 15 minutes to cross, and you are deposited right at the entrance to the Fort. An excellent kid adventure, as the ferry driver and his assistant are happy to talk with you about the workings of the ferry or anything about local history. Great views too!

Short Ferry Trip
Jul 2019 • Family
I took the ferry from Ticonderoga To Vermont with my wife and my son’s family. It was a beautiful ride across the lake. It is a short ride so the kids didn’t loose their attention. The Ferry travels along a cable which is unique. I would take the trip again if in the area.

Every Minute Was A Gem
Jul 2019 • Couples
This was the shortest boat trip I've taken, yet was one of the most enjoyable. The crew were friendly and answered questions about the area we were crossing including points beyond the immediate landscape. The landscape was beautiful and filled with history. It was almost like a trip back in time. Very relaxing and contemplative.

Fun way to travel
Jun 2019 • Friends
The ferry had great service and was not a long wait for any of the 5 times we crossed the lake. If you purchase the round trip ticket the return does not have to be in the same day- it’s good for a year. Added bonus- you can purchase some Maple Syrup in your 7 minute commute across the water! It’s very efficiently run!
