This is an absolutely thrilling experience. It is a sanctuary for raptors (hawks, falcons, owls and such) who could not survive in the wild and so are housed in huge flyable enclosures where you can look at them, and they will look at you up close and personal. They are magical and gorgeous. An expert gives several talks every day... More

They have a great talk and demo of birds outdoors. Interesting and informative. Kids love it. Also interesting to adults. There is a nice trail in the center that goes through the woods and edge of a lake. Overall number of exhibits in the center is limited.

We love birds of prey. My wife and I eyeball hawks that people drive right by with no notice. The chance to watch a volunteer feed a ferruginous hawk, snow owl, kestrel and other birds, who injured in some capacity rely on this sanctuary, was unique. By far, the highlight was watching a red shouldered hawk there for 19 years,... More

On a recent rip to Vermont, long overdue trip we had a blast, good food, nice weather, dog friendly accommodations, great walks etc! But the highlight was VINS! It was amazing, educational, fun and thrilling to see motivated people doing such wonderful work! Thank you so much for what you do!!

I have mixed feelings about keeping animals in zoos, but here all the birds are rehabilitated and have flight, vision, or other problems that would prevent them from surviving in the wild, so they make ideal members of a community like this. The enclosures are a decent size and the birds all seem happy and healthy. We saw the presentation... More

Despite it being a cold and rainy day, the staff at VINS made our visit an amazing one! Staff members were well versed and educated on their raptors...we got to see birds up close, watch them get fed, and even touch a snake! It truly was an amazing experience we will not soon forget!

Great rainy day activity or something to do with kids. Presentation with the birds is interesting and the facility is very clean. We had a rainy day in our trip and it was a cool thing to see.

This place is great. There are several live raptor demonstrations each day. These folks main mission aside from educating the public, is to rehabilitate injured raptors. They release the ones that they can release. Many of the ones that are at the facility have damaged wings that did not properly heal and therefore they could not be released back into... More

Went to see the birds of prey at VINS Nature Centre and was impressed with the way the birds are looked after, although most of the birds seen were formerly injured and for me, still looked in a bit of a sorry state. Had a reasonably enjoyable visit however.

We have been to Woodstock/Quechee previously and passed on VINS thinking that it was just for children or commercial - what a mistake! They rehabilitate raptors from Vermont as well as other centers in the US and have many beautiful birds which cannot be returned to the wild because of injuries. These wildlife ambassadors are in enclosures with information on... More
