Proctorsville area (2 Replies)
Hi everyone! I am staying in Proctorsville next weekend, and curious about some local recommendations. Last time we went to Bromley Mountain for ziplining and the Alpine Slide. We also went to the town of Weston which was great. I loved the country store and especially the Christmas shop! Do you have any suggestions - we will be there for 4 days. I heard there is a brewery that we were going to look into. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

It's a quiet place. I wd go hiking (lots of trails nearby) and bicycling -- go swimming and/or canoing in Lake Nineveh (watch for loons!) or Star Lake or Echo Lake State Park (watch for moose!) Go wading at Buttermilk Falls. Right in Proctorsville, eat a spinach croissant or cream cheese brownie at Crows Corner bakery, if it's still there. Check out the Weston Playhouse, and perhaps Weston Priory, down in Weston. I think there is a bookstore in Ludlow, and another one in Chester. There are...More
Looking for a Bromley alternative (1 Replies)
Hi, We frequent Bromley mountain every year (Jan. and Feb.)because of its proximity to NY and its never very crowded. We travel with kids ranging from 11 to 16 years old so we avoid the big popular destinations. We stay at the Sun Lodge (yes its overpriced, but you can't beat the location). I'm looking for an alternative, hopefully not too much further than Bromley, thats family-friendly.

How about Pico? It's part of Killington, but a seperate area. Not as crowded. Also, a bit north of Killington is the Mad River Valley. Sugarbush sounds like it would be up your alley. If you don't mind going to Northern Vermont, I highly suggest Burke Mountain. Great gem. Not crowded, excellent terrain. To get there, you would approach Vermont via I-91.
