Dan & Whits is a typical country store that has many of the basic needs for people that live locally and tourists that come into town. It is family run and supports many local events and raises funds and food donations to places in need. This place truly has a heart of gold. Don't forget to explore the back rooms... More

Personally, I have been shopping at D & W's for sixty years. Quirky & idiosyncratic, it is all and more than a general store. Hardware, locavore foods, basics, boots, feed, and more, it is truly the hub of the community!

You can visit Dan & Whits without seeing all of it. The outside has a huge bulletin board for use by locals. The first few hundred square feet is a deli/minimarts Then the fun begins. Rows upon rows of stuff: clothing, novelties, chachkis. If you look for it, you'll find a door to the back hardware store. More squirreled away... More

This is the real definition of a general store; they have everything imaginable complete with packed aisles, creaky floors, and stuff stashed everywhere. Worth a stop if you need something; we walked through but didn't buy. Place was bustling inside and out.

But it was an interesting place to explore for a bit... Certainly a local landmark. It has been around for a very long time and has many aspects of old variety store charm. We liked our quick visit.

As my title states "it's not quite what we expected" but very interesting! The outside looks like a grocery store from the 50's-60's. Inside the shelves are packed with anything and everything you can imagine! There are groceries but it's the dry goods that are fun to check out. Inventory includes local books, magazines, sewing notions, appliances, toys, greeting cards,... More

I grew up in Norwich shopping at Dan & Whits and of course knew the owners. The sons are running it now but nothing has changed. It's really true that if "they don't have it, you don't need it." My father once asked Dan for something he couldn't find and after much searching Dan couldn't find it either. My dad... More

This is not a tourist attraction, but a pleasant oddity. Everything you ever would need or want can be found here. The building has additions that house so many items that they claim "If we don't have it, you don't need it."

Store full of clutter and cramped but they have everything. Over all pretty decent and lovely. Would recommend and go to again.

It is hard to believe that this old time mix of products still has a place in our modern shopping mall world. It is always a delight to just wonder around the aisles and see all the crazy things this store stocks. Great place to find that thing you don't know you want!
