My husband and I did the lesson and walk and loved every minute of it! Rob was an excellent teacher and happily answered all of our many questions. Seeing the hawks up close and personal was unforgettable, not to mention the thrill of having them fly back and forth to our outstretched hand. It was neat to walk through the woods and have them swoop right over our heads, following us the entire time. We're very happy the threatened rain didn't develop so we were able to enjoy this experience, which I'm sure we'll be talking about for years to come!

Thanks so much for coming - I'm so pleased you had a good time (and the weather cooperated!). Explaining what happens on the walk is difficult and you did a great job doing so. The fact that they follow, return and buzz past us so harmlessly are all elements of the program that are so well received. And having you describe it having had first-hand experience is perfect - thank you for writing your review. Best. Rob

This is one of the coolest experiences I've ever had!! Ten years ago I stumbled upon this falconry school and on a whim took a lesson. It was surreal to learn about the birds and how they are flown, and then get to go out to the field and do it myself! You learn how to send them off, call them back, and even how to take them on a walk through private trails. Rob Waite, the master falconer, teaches you so much in an hour you walk away reeling with newfound knowledge and experience. I loved it so much I booked another lesson last weekend, thinking it couldn't possibly live up to the magic of our first time, but it absolutely did! I dare say it was even better! I would recommend this wholeheartedly as one of the best things you can possibly do while traveling.

Thank you for such a kind review! Your enthusiasm for the birds really shows through (not surprisingly, I share this with you!). And it's always great to have guests come back, particularly so for those who haven't yet checked out where we relocated to. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it as much (or even more!) than your first time. Don't stop at two visits! Best wishes. Rob

We booked this through the Equinox and it was worth the price. To have a hawk sit on your arm was unbelievable but then to have it fly off and return was spectacular. Rob gave us the introductory lesson and he was excellent - knowledgeable and patient. It really was a once in a life time experience that we can't stop talking about.

It's great to hear that you had such a good time on your recent visit and even better to know that you can't stop talking about it! It is word-of-mouth and Trip Advisor reviews like yours that gets the word out and keeps us busy, so thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Hope you can make it back for the Hawk Walk. Best. Rob

My husband and I took the Introductory Lesson. Although the price was a little steep, this was a once in a lifetime experience and definitely worth the money. Rob was wonderful. We got to handle a hawk named Monty and learn extensively about the birds, their habits, and their behaviors. Handling a hawk was amazing, and I would highly recommend it if you are looking for something different to do. Rob was an excellent "teacher" who took the time to answer our many questions in depth, even though I'm sure he's been asked the same questions hundreds of times. This is something my husband and I will be talking about for many years.

Thanks so much for the kind review! I'm always amazed at how many great questions we get and how they vary so much. Part of what makes this such a fun job is the opportunity to "see" things through another's eyes and to experience our guest's thrill of handling a hawk for the first time. Please do try to make a return visit and thanks again. Rob

A friend and I did an introductory hawk lesson. We had a 10 am appt and got there a little early and were pretty much taken out right away. Diane was our guide and she was very good. Personable and knowledgeable. Answered all of our questions. There were 7 different birds there for us to look at and learn about. We worked with a Harris Hawk named Monty specifically. It was just the 3 of us which was really nice, so it was essentially a private lesson. We each had a turn with Monty. Holding him, walking with him, flying him. We even walked into the woods for a little bit and he followed us. It was very very cool! It's not necessarily cheap at $132 each for the hour, but to us, it was totally worth it. I would highly recommend.

Thanks to you both for visiting - we are so pleased that you had a good time and I know Diane thoroughly enjoyed meeting you. We opted to make all of our programs private about 6 years ago, which has been well received and often gives our guests a pleasant surprise when they realize it! Hope you'll make it back for the Hawk Walk and thanks for taking the time to post your review....it's so often the way people get to know about our activities. Best wishes. Rob
