As a course fisherman, this was my first attempt at fly fishing. despite my nerves at getting it all wrong, the tutor, Brian, put me at ease and his knowledge and patience was to be commended. Everything was explained in great detail and the basic technique of casting was soon picked up (almost). The river was incredibly clean, though not as many fish compared to recent years according to the expert. All in all, a fantastice day in a beautiful setting, learning a new skill, topped off with 3 wild brown trout (the best of the bunch is in the photo, 2lb ).

On a whim we decided to book a fly fishing 2 hour class. Neither my husband or I had ever down it before. It was an amazing experience and we may take up fly fishing now. Our instructor Brendan was awesome! We had time to learn how to cast your rod from shore and then had the opportunity to go out on a book that practice and catch a fish. Just awesome!!! Highly recommend

Beware, you might get hooked. Kyle is a pro. The Zen Master of fly fishing. Watch him cast a few times and you will say, "I want to do that." In a one hour lesson, he teaches the basics of casting. Plus a few tricks. Great feedback. Great encouragement. Super convenient location at the Orvis pond. Kids fed trout and watched. I'll return for a half day lesson next Spring.

I took the 2 day Fly Fishing boot camp at the Orvis School. I found the class very very good and quite enjoyed it. The instructors clearly were highly experienced and were very interested in making sure each student was properly attended to. The class is a mixture of lecture, hands on and some video taping. After spending the two days in class I feel my confidence level and skill went up quite a bit, particularly in casting. Of course Fly Fishing is an ongoing education but with the boot camp under my belt I feel comfortable enough to go hit the streams. If you have been thinking about taking up Fly Fishing-- and want an easy way to quickly get up to speed this class is for you. My advise- spend the money and take the class. It will make all the difference when you hit the water on your own.
